• Local UPS driver inducted into 'Circle of Honor'

    UPS driver Douglas Isaacs of Columbia, who works out of the Campbellsville UPS center, has recently been inducted into the UPS Circle of Honor.

    Isaacs was among 22 drivers from Kentucky inducted on Tuesday, Feb. 8. The drivers join the 1,122 newly inducted worldwide into the Circle of Honor, an honorary organization for UPS drivers who have achieved 25 or more years of accident free driving.

    Kentucky boasts 88 active Circle of Honor drivers with a combined 2,480 years of accident free driving.

  • TRH breaks ground for new surgery center


    Taylor Regional Hospital had a groundbreaking for its new surgery center at noon on Wednesday.

    Plans call for a three-story, 48,664-square-foot free standing addition to be built near the rear of the hospital beside the emergency room.

    The first floor will feature 21 private patient rooms. The second floor will be for endoscopy procedures and the third floor will have operating, recovery and supply rooms.

  • Kessler named Kentucky Champion Auctioneer


    John Wayne Kessler of Campbellsville was named the 2011 Kentucky Champion Auctioneer in the state's professional auctioneers' contest.

    The contest was in conjunction with the 54th Kentucky Auctioneers Association Convention on Feb. 18-21 in Jamestown. The contest featured a live auction and contestants were judged on their ability to catch bids, chant, appearance and how they handled themselves on stage, plus their ability to answer questions about issues facing the auction industry.

  • Hicks joins Kessler Auction & Realty Co.


    Joey Hicks of Campbellsville has joined Kessler Auction & Realty Co. as a real estate sales associate.

    Hicks received his real estate license in December. He is a graduate of Elizabethtown Community College and has three associate degrees in real estate/business, human resources and business management.

    He and his wife Christina and their two children, Madeline and Audrey, live in Taylor County.

  • RE/MAX broker earns lifetime achievement award

    DeWayne Squires, broker and owner of RE/MAX Realty Partners, has been presented with the RE/MAX Lifetime Achievement Award, which honors highly successful agents who have earned more than $3 million in commissions and have completed seven years with the company.

    Squires has been working in the real estate industry for 20 years, 15 of those years with RE/MAX. He has experience in the marketing and sale of residential, commercial, investment and farm properties.

  • FFA emblems sold at Southern States co-op store

    The cashier at Southern States might ask customers to part with an extra dollar this month. But don't worry. It's not inflation on the rise, it's for a good cause.

    Southern States is supporting FFA, formerly known as Future Farmers of America, by selling FFA emblems for $1. The campaign began Feb. 28 and runs through March 14.

  • Informational meeting on sleep issues is Wednesday

    National Sleep Awareness Week, which takes place March 7-13, is an annual public education and awareness campaign to promote the importance of sleep.

    The Taylor Regional Hospital Sleep Center is hosting a free educational meeting on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the TRH meeting room, located behind the cafeteria.

    Sleep issues (insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome and shift work disorder) are some of the common disorders staff at the TRH Sleep Center deal with on a regular basis.

  • Hicks and Tucker join AutoSmart


    AutoSmart's staff has grown by two.

    Adam Hicks joined the staff as a sales consultant on Dec. 6.

    Jennifer Tucker joined as finance manager on Feb. 28.

  • Pennington joins Visions Salon


    Olivia Pennington is the newest stylist at Visions Salon in Campbellsville.

    She attended The Salon Professional Academy in Lexington, graduating in July 2009.

    Pennington specializes in colors, cuts, waxes, manicures, pedicures, facials and the new Shellac manicures.

    Visions is located at 5534 Old Lebanon Road in Campbellsville. Hours are Tuesday through Friday and Saturdays by appointment only.
