  • Dr. Simmons incorporates 3D X-ray imaging

    The office of Dr. Robert L. Simmons recently incorporated a 3D X-ray cone beam CT scanner for patient imaging and diagnostics as part of the dental practice.

    Simmons said the equipment is a new and vital part of his practice.

    The scanner captures advanced, state-of-the-art volumetric images that increase the quality and accuracy of radiographic dental care. When using the scanner, Simmons says he will have the most accurate anatomic information to plan the placement of dental implants in optimal sites.

  • Air Evac temporarily relocates due to construction

    Air Evac Lifeteam has temporarily moved its Campbellsville base to the Taylor County Airport.

    The move, according to Program Director Dan Durham, is because of construction at Taylor Regional Hospital. It is estimated that Air Evac will remain at the airport, located at 360 Airport Road, for the next six weeks. Aircraft will remain ready to respond to calls from the temporary location, Durham said, and operations will proceed as usual.

  • Nelson is new Tourism director

     

    Alisha Nelson is the new executive director of the Taylor County Tourist Commission.

    Nelson, who began working for the Tourist Commission last September, was set to take over executive director duties on July 1, after the retirement of Marilyn Clarke. However, Clarke moved up her planned June 30 retirement and Nelson took over on Feb. 16.

    Nelson has previously worked at Walmart Supercenter and for John Humphress at www.campbellsville.com.

    She said she enjoys working with people, taking photos and updating websites.

  • Taylor Regional Hospital hosts sleep disorders program

     

    Taylor Regional Hospital hosted a program on sleep disorders on March 9. There were more than 50 who attended the educational session presented by Dr. Asser El-Atfy of TRH's Pulmonology Services & Sleep Disorder Center.

  • Local Southern States employee selected for 'Certified FeedMaster' training

    Chris Coomer, Southern States territory sales manager for Campbellsville, Adair County and Liberty, has attended a three-day training program designed to qualify him as a "Certified FeedMaster Specialist" for Southern States Cooperative, Inc.

    The training program is tied to the Southern States' FeedMaster program and is designed to augment the existing knowledge base of employees involved in advising the co-op's customers on issues related to feeding various types of animals.

  • TRH host 'Healthy Heart Expo'

     

    Taylor Regional Hospital hosted a "Healthy Heart Expo" on Feb. 17. There were more than 100 in attendance for an educational session presented by Dr. Carolyn Harris, stress testing and nuclear medicine specialist at Taylor Regional Hospital. Also featured were 26 informational booths, door prizes and refreshments.

  • Tax credits to help CVC create jobs, spark investment

    Community Ventures Corp., headquartered in Lexington with an office in Campbellsville, has been selected to receive $18 million in tax credits under the New Markets Tax Credit program.

    NMTC, which started in 2000, helps organizations such as CVC re-invest and revitalize local communities, promote small businesses and create jobs and help struggling families get back on their feet.
