  • CVC celebrates fair housing law

    Marking the 43rd anniversary of the signing of the National Fair Housing Law, Kevin R. Smith, president and CEO of Community Ventures Corp., asked all seven regions of the state to recognize April as Fair Housing Month.

  • USDA offers assistance to producers of honeybees, livestock and farm-raised fish

    More than $8 million in disaster assistance will be issued starting immediately to livestock, honeybee and farm-raised fish producers that suffered losses in 2010 because of disease, bad weather or other conditions.

    The aid will come from the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees and Farm-Raised Fish Program.

  • CVC awarded $65,695 grant from Bank of America

    In an effort to find new ways to help struggling small and startup businesses in the region, Community Ventures Corp. is working with Bank of America to tap unused federal funds.

    CVC recently announced it has received a $65,695 grant from Bank of America for use as loan loss reserves required by federal microloan programs to access $771,300 in loan capital that is then used to make small-sized loans to local businesses.

  • Souled Out lawn service now open

     

    After Terrance Bell, Matt Bradshaw and Donovan Pittman attended the Young Adult Chrysalis walk, they prayed for a way to give back to the community. They obtained zero-turn mowers and other equipment and are available to mow, trim weeds and shrubs, pressure wash, clean out clogged gutters, landscaping and any other yard work residents may need.

    Fifteen percent of their proceeds will go towards sponsoring individuals for the Young Adult Chrysalis walk so they will have an opportunity to experience God's grace and a weekend praising the Lord.
