  • KEMI promotes Beard to chief operating officer

    Kentucky Employers' Mutual Insurance has announced that Mary Beard has been promoted to chief operating officer. Beard will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization.

    Beard has been with KEMI since 1996 and has served in various capacities, most recently as director of finance and underwriting.

    A native of Campbellsville, Beard received a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky and a master's degree from the University of Phoenix.

  • Campbellsville Health and Fitness celebrates grand opening at new location

    Owners Wayne and Marsha Johnson of Campbellsville Health and Fitness recently hosted a grand opening ceremony at their new location at 1951 Old Columbia Road.

    Campbellsville Mayor Tony Young, Taylor County Judge/Executive Eddie Rogers, Campbellsville/Taylor County Chamber of Commerce ambassadors and other city representatives attended the grand opening celebration.

  • Local economic development coalition wins 2011 LG&E and KU Community Award for Innovation

    At the recent spring conference of the Kentucky Association for Economic Development, which took place in Shelbyville, the Bluegrass South Regional Economic Development Coalition became the most recent winner of the LG&E and KU Community Award for Innovation.

    LG&E and KU sponsors this award created by KAED each year at the association's annual spring conference. The award recognizes one community in Kentucky that demonstrates collaborative efforts to advance the economic development climate of a region in Kentucky.

  • Super Wash car washes to host second annual 'FoodRaiser'

    Throughout the month of May, select Super Wash car washes will host a 'FoodRaiser' to raise money for local food pantries.

    Super Wash will donate $1 of every "Super Wash" and $1.50 of every four-wash token package purchased in May to a local food pantry. The majority of Super Wash car washes are open 24 hours a day, so "Super Wash" purchases at any time of day or night will count towards the FoodRaiser. A Super Wash manager or attendant must be on duty in order to purchase token packages.

  • Roadshow in Campbellsville this week

    The Ohio Valley Refinery & Roadshow will make a stop in Campbellsville this week.

    The roadshow will be at Holiday Inn Express beginning tomorrow and lasting through Saturday. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

    Those who have gold, silver, antiques or other rare collectibles lying around their homes, the Ohio Valley Refinery & Roadshow wants to see them.

  • Former Lake Cumberland Development chief honored

    Pat Bell, former Lake Cumberland Area Development District chief, was honored recently at the annual conference of the Development Districts of Appalachia Association as he received the 2011 Donald R. Myers Humanitarian Award in recognition of his history and lifetime achievement.

    The DDAA gives one such award each year. The award winner is selected from one of the 420 Appalachian counties, which make up 73 development districts in the 13 state Appalachian region.

  • TRH to host health fair in June

    Taylor Regional Hospital will host a community health fair on Saturday, June 11 from 8 a.m. to noon at Taylor County Middle School gymnasium.

    TRH will again offer lab work. A general health panel, including a Complete Blood Count, Comprehensive Metabolic Profile, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, as well as a Coronary Risk Profile (which includes cholesterol levels) will be offered. The package will cost $12. PSA will be available to men for $8.

    Garrett graduated from Durham Beauty School in Danville. She specializes in trendy cuts and styles, color, manicures and pedicures. She is available Wednesday through Friday and on Saturday by appointment only. Walk-ins are welcome.
