    Ruby Lee Helm, 90, of Campbellsville died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Grandview Nursing Home in Campbellsville after an illness.

    She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Shreve Helm.

  • Emily Kessler Rafferty, 82

    Emily Kessler Rafferty, 82, of Indianapolis, Ind., died Friday, June 27, 2008, after a short battle with cancer.

    Daughter of the late Sylvester and Lena Dixie Kessler, she was born on March 9, 1926, in Campbellsville. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Indianapolis. She grew up attending Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Campbellsville. She had served on the board of the Hamilton County Cancer Society, including one term as chair.

    She was married to Harold E. Rafferty on Feb. 15, 1947. He survives.

  • The Rev. John L. Coomer, 96

    The Rev. John L. Coomer, 96, of Columbia, Ky., died at 12:34 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia.

    Son of the late Amos J. and Arminta Dickson Coomer, he was a retired United Methodist minister and had served more than 50 years in Louisville Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was chaplain in residence at Summit Manor Nursing Home and a member of Columbia Masonic Lodge #96.

    He was married to Pearl Hoover Coomer, who preceded him in death. He later married Nancy Lansden Coomer, who also preceded him in death.

  • Warren Wilson "Sonny" LaRue, 76

    Warren Wilson "Sonny" LaRue, 76, of Raywick, Ky., died at 6:55 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2008, at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

    Son of the late Joseph Walters LaRue and Mina Beall Wilson LaRue, he was born on July 19, 1931, in Marion County, Ky. He was a former driver for the Community Action Weatherization Program. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of Living Church of God.

    He was married to Cathy Bickett LaRue for 35 years. She survives.

  • Dr. Bobby R. Himes, 76

    Dr. Bobby R. Himes, 76, of Campbellsville died at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at his home.

    Son of the late Elbert Himes and Ethel Whitler Himes, he was born on Oct. 22, 1931. He was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.

    Himes was a 1950 graduate of Hartford High School, a 1959 graduate of Kentucky Weslyan College in Owensboro. He received his master's degree from Appalachian State College in Boone N.C. in 1961 and his doctorate from Vanderbilt University in 1967.

    Pearl Yarberry, 71, of Columbia, Ky., died at 7:06 a.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2008, at her home after an illness.

    Daughter of the late Rev. Gilliam H. and Carrie Ellis Morrison Stotts, she was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker.

    She was married to Stanford Yarberry, who survives.

  • Thomas W. Beckley, 85

    Thomas W. Beckley, 85, of Eastport Road in Campbellsville died Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at his home after an illness.

    Son of the late Lilburn and Lee Hash Beckley, he was a member of Bible Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a retired employee of the City of Campbellsville.

    He was married to Josephine Beckley, who preceded him in death.

    Evelyn Goode, 84, of Clementsville, Ky., died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at her home.

    Daughter of the late Walter "Watt" Wethington and Mary Ellen Clements, she was born on Nov. 10, 1923 in Casey County. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.

    She was married to James Covious "Cobe" Goode, who preceded her in death.

    The Rev. Marshall Neil Eastham, 72, of Greensburg, Ky., died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky.

  • Seba Shreve Shaw Van Dyke, 91

    Seba Shreve Shaw Van Dyke, 91, of Morrisville, N.C., a native of Taylor County, died recently in North Carolina after a long illness.

    Daughter of the late Benjamin and Margaret Ada Brown Shreve, she was a licensed practical nurse and a retired employee of General Motors in Pontiac, Mich. She was a former member of Friendship Baptist Church and Assembly of God and attended Merrimac School.

    She was married Odell Van Dyke, who was killed in action in France during World War II on Aug. 21, 1944. She later married Wilson Robert Shaw, who preceded her in death on June 21, 2000.
