    Campbellsville Mayor Tony Young and Yevette Haskins attended the National Association of Development Organizations Conference in Washington, D.C., on March 10-13.

    While attending the conference, Young and Haskins visited the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial. Later in the week, they met with Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and other congressmen on Capitol Hill to discuss the needs of Campbellsville and Central Kentucky.

    Ashley Suzanne Holt and Christopher Michael Dudgeon of Campbellsville announce their engagement.

    Holt is the daughter of Gary and Marsha Holt of Bloomfield.

    She graduated from Nelson County High School and Campbellsville University. Holt is employed at Lindsey Wilson College and is working toward a master's degree in business administration at CU.

    Dudgeon is the son of Mike and Tammy Dudgeon of Russell Springs and Betsy Dudgeon of Campbellsville.

    Knights of Columbus Council 12923 recently donated $500, the proceeds from its annual Tootsie Roll drive, to Taylor County Special Olympics.

    Campbellsville University's Semper Paratus Severe, the veterans’ club at CU, will present a program on post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and service dogs at 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, in Ransdell Chapel. The event is free and open to the public.

    Love was in the air on Feb. 12 for Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility residents and members of Campbellsville University baseball and softball programs.

    Fifteen athletes took time off the diamond to participate in a Valentine's Day dance with the seniors. Activities Director Karen Reed said she is amazed at the response from residents the morning after the celebration.

    KJ Richerson of Campbellsville has artwork featured in "The Voyage" exhibit at the Health and Science Museum in Houston, Texas.

    "The Voyage" is a mural of sailboat art completed by pediatric patients at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital's Arts in Medicine program, under the direction of Ion Cion.

    The exhibit opened with a VIP event on Feb. 7, and will be open through September.

    Guests included Dr. Ronald DePinho, president of MD Anderson, and lieutenant governor David Dewhurst.

    Mark Johnson, back, fifth from left, was the guest speaker at Troop 616's recent Court of Honor at Bethel First Presbyterian Church.

    Johnson, an Eagle Scout, encouraged the Boy Scouts and urged them to work hard and keep their eyes on becoming Eagle Scouts themselves.

    Troop 616 will host an open house on Thursday, April 18, at Miller Park to demonstrate scouting skills and to recruit those interested in joining Boy Scouts.

    Greater Campbellsville United recently hosted a Diversity Day with Campbellsville/Taylor County adult leadership participants.

    The group spent the day getting to know each other, talking about diversity and learning about leadership. After activities, the group ate lunch together at Garcia's.

    Cousins Tanner Barnes and Carly Bland celebrated their fourth birthdays with friends at Glow Worms on Feb. 25.

    Taylor County High School Future Farmers of America will have a pet adoption fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kroger in Green River Plaza.

    Campbellsville High School boys' freshman basketball squad captured the 20th district tournament Feb. 22 and finished with a 16-3 record.

    It's a way to fight obesity and cancer, and get a little color.

    Those passing by Miller Park on March 16 might see something a bit unusual. People will be sprayed with colored cornstarch as they compete in a 5K walk and run.

    And the event will raise money to fight two causes, obesity and children's cancer.

    Campbellsville's "Color to Conquer" walk and 5K run will be Saturday, March 16, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Miller Park. Registration begins at 7 a.m.
