  • Christmas Home Tour

    Staff Report

    The sprinkling rain didn't keep folks from coming out to see some of Campbellsville's most historic and unique homes during the Campbellsville Woman's Club annual Christmas Home Tour on Sunday.

    According to club president Roberta Moore, the tour had its largest turnout ever. The club also met its goal of raising enough money to provide two scholarships to local high school seniors in the coming year.

  • Parrott competes in pageant

    Gracie Ann Parrott competed at the Kentucky State Festival Pageant at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington on Saturday, Nov. 10. Parrott competed in the 7-year-old division and was crowned queen, most beautiful and photogenic. She represented the Celebration of Home Green River Festival of Green County. She is the daughter of Walt and Deana Parrott of Greensburg; and the granddaughter of Billy Dean and Jackie Coffey of Columbia, Rose Parrott of Greensburg and the late Walter Lee Parrott Sr.

  • Ford celebrates 99th birthday

    Ruth Gibson Ford celebrated her 99th birthday at Windsor Gardens on Nov. 24 with her two daughters and several of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Guests traveled from North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio and Indiana. Five generations of her family were present.

    They had just arrived on Galapagos Island when the phone call came from a local hospital.

    A female tourist from Houston, Texas had lost a lot of blood. She had fallen earlier and had been taking ibuprofen for the pain. However, the pain reliever caused an ulcer to flare up and begin to bleed.

  • Taylor County Band concert is Dec. 7

    The Taylor County Band will present its annual Christmas concert in conjunction with a chili supper on Friday, Dec. 7.

    The event will be at Taylor County Middle School from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5. For those who wish to only see the concert, admission is $1.

    The sixth-grade band will perform at 6 p.m. The middle school band will perform at 6:30 p.m. and the high school band will perform at 7 p.m.

  • 'Holiday Hero' blood drive is Dec. 7

    This year's American Red Cross' annual "Holiday Hero" blood drive will be special for many blood donors in the Campbellsville area.

    On hand will be military service personnel who have served in Iraq and the Middle East. This will be a chance for civic-minded blood donors to come and thank those individuals for their service.

    By donating blood, you have the potential to help save up to three lives this holiday season.

    The holiday blood drive will be Friday, Dec. 7 from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Campbellsville National Guard Armory.

  • YMCA Christmas Ball is Dec. 7

    The Frankfort YMCA is hosting its second annual YMCA Christmas Ball on Friday, Dec. 7.

    The Christmas Ball is an event designated for Special Olympic athletes and individuals with special needs in the Central Kentucky area.

    "Last year met and exceeded all expectations," said Brent Wallace, family services/marketing director of the Frankfort YMCA.

    The Ball drew more than 200 individuals throughout Kentucky. The event brought out much excitement and warmed the hearts of everyone who attended.

  • CU orchestra fall concert set for Dec. 6

    The Campbellsville University Orchestra will present its annual fall concert on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel on the campus of Campbellsville University.

    The concert will be conducted by Dr. J. Robert Gaddis, dean of the School of Music. The program is free and open to the public.
