  • Thirty-two contestants from across the state will be vying for the title of Miss Kentucky 2008. Among them will be Campbellsville resident Emily Cox.

    Cox, Miss Bowling Green, is 22 years old and the daughter of Ricky Cox and Jenny Cox, both of Campbellsville.

    She has a degree in biology from the University of Kentucky and her ambition is to obtain a doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and pursue a career as a clinical pharmacist.

  • Ruth L. Durham celebrated her 92nd birthday on June 30. She had a drop-in party on June 29 with several friends and relatives attending. Durham said she was honored to have so many visitors and cards from some who couldn't attend.

  • On the weekend of June 27, the family of Anita Berry and the late Vernon Berry were the guests of Rodney and Sandra Berry of Clay, Ky.

    The gathering took place at Eddy Creek on Lake Barkley where they have their cabin cruiser parked.

    Those present were Anita Berry, Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Berry, Stacey Berry, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Burns and children, DeAna and Blake; Priscilla Berry and daughters, Rachel Henn and MacKensie Henn; Mr. and Mrs. Hayden Johnson and family, Daniel, Devin and DeLanna Johnson along with Devin's friend, John.

  • Grayson Carter Booe is the 9-month-old son of the Rev. Rodney and Kari Jo Booe of Campbellsville. His grandparents are Tessie and Pat Edelen of Springfield and Rea and Dick Booe of Veedersburg, Ind. Grayson's photo was submitted by his babysitter, Rita Smalley of Campbellsville.

  • The Taylor County Junior Miss Scholarship Program is set for Saturday, Aug. 23.

    Once again, Campbellsville Independent Schools will be hosting the program at Campbellsville High School's Hamilton Auditorium.

  • Mark and Robin Davis announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Sarah Rose Davis, to Patrick Lewis Davis, son of Sheila Davis and the late Elmer Lewis Davis.

    Sarah is the granddaughter of the Rev. Ivan L. and Guin Jones, Gerald Davis and Frances Davis.

    She is a 2004 graduate of Green County High School and is enrolled in the registered nursing program at Western Kentucky University.

    Patrick is the grandson of Joyce Pepper, Vechie Davis and the late Ralph Pepper and Loy Davis.

  • Taylor Regional Hospital will present a Basic Life Support for Heartsavers Class on Thursday, July 17 from 8 a.m. to noon at the TRH Learning & Resource Center located at 125B Kingswood Drive in Campbellsville.

    The class will be presented by Richard Phillips, TRH staff development coordinator.

    The BLS for Heartsaver Course is for the lay rescuer who needs a credential documenting successful completion of a BLS course. The BLS for Heartsaver Course will teach rescuers how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking.

  • Campbellsville University's Technology Training Center will host kids' classes in October.

    - A Celebrate the Seasons class will be Oct. 6-9 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. for children ages 8 and up. Participants will celebrate a season for each day with a cooking and craft class. Children will make "dirt" in the spring and colored egg soap. Space is limited. Cost is $65.

  • Taylor Regional Hospital will present a first aid class on Wednesday, July 16 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the TRH Learning & Resource Center located at 125B Kingswood Drive in Campbellsville.

    The class will be presented by Richard Phillips, TRH staff development coordinator.

    This course will provide the participant with a sound foundation in the techniques of first aid. Upon course completion, participants will receive a course completion certificate.

    Cost is $50. Those wishing to attend should pre-register by calling the TRH Learning & Resource Center at 789-5862.

  • Sara Brooke Hilpp and Shawn O'Neal Gordon, both of Lebanon, exchanged wedding vows on Saturday, April 26 at Twin Eagle Estates in Lebanon.

    John Arther Elder performed the ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Freddie Hilpp and Kathie Hilpp, both of Lebanon. Her grandparents are Adolph Hilpp and Frances Montgomery, both of Lebanon, and the late Joe and Joey Miller.

    The groom is the son of Butch and Brini Gordon of Lebanon. His grandparents are Leo and Frances Gordon and Flossie Blandford, all of Lebanon, and the late Reuben Blandford.
