    Taylor County won't have a jail. Instead, it will become home to the Taylor County Detention Center.

    Fairview Baptist Church, located about 12 miles from Campbellsville on KY 337 in Mannsville, will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a celebration and homecoming Sunday, Oct. 23.

    The Central Kentucky News-Journal won six awards in the Landmark Community Newspaper Inc. first ever Landmark of Excellence advertising design awards.

    Campbellsville University will celebrate Homecoming 2005 on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21-22.

    Ernest Wise Sr., 83, of Wise Road in Campbellsville died at 10:29 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005 in Louisville.

    Gary and Tammy Porter celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Las Vegas, Nev.

    Richard and Shirley Chelf of Elkhorn will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary on Thursday, Sept. 22.

    Neil and Jaclyn Dabney announce the birth of a son, Noah Lane, at 7:59 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.

    About 250 volunteers descended on Green River Lake on Saturday to collect trash and other debris from along the lakeshore.

    Campbellsville High School will celebrate its 2005 football homecoming on Friday.

    The Crossmen of Robinson Creek Baptist Church will be in concert Sunday at Yuma Baptist Church.

    Taylor County Marching Band will host its annual invitational Saturday, Sept. 24 on the Taylor County High School football field. 12 bands are set to compete.

    Shocked and ecstatic are just a couple of words Rebecca Hinton used to describe how she felt Saturday evening at the close of the 2006 Taylor County Junior Miss program. Her name had been called as the winner.

    Romey Reynolds Sr., 69, of Meadowview Drive in Campbellsville, died at 1:22 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, in Campbellsville.

    Gwynette Sullivan was the guest speaker for the August meeting of the Campbellsville Business and Professional Women's Club.

    Mindi Goff has been named the Taylor Regional Hospital ambassador for July 2005.

    The Taylor County Historical Society met for its June picnic at Early╒s Chapel United Methodist Church, which was organized in 1856.

    Campbellsville University will be hosting its annual Pastors and Church Leaders Conference on Sept. 22-23.

    A Durham High School reunion has been planned for Sept. 3-4 at the corner of Baptist Street, Durham Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

    James DeWitt and his chickens will be ruffling their feathers during the next four days at the Kentucky State Fair in hopes of being named as grand champion. DeWitt begins competing today with 12 of what he calls “God’s greatest creations.”

    Jennifer Wolford recently earned her Master of Arts degree in creative writing from Florida State University in Tallahassee.

    Cody Smith won the Kentucky State FFA Quiz Contest.

    Ashley Kristen Corbin has been honored with Lindsey Wilson College's Begley Scholarship.
