    The wedding ceremony will be Saturday, Nov. 3, at 1:30 p.m. at Green River Memorial Baptist Church in Campbellsville. A reception will follow in the church's fellowship building. All family and friends are invited to attend.

    Bobby and Edith McMahan traveled to the Canadian Rockies Athabasca Glacier in the Columbia Icefield of Alberta, Canada, in August and took along a copy of the Central Kentucky News-Journal.

    Courtney Dawn Pittman, 3, of Campbellsville, grows sweet potatoes in her grandparents' garden. This one weighted 4 pounds, 10 ounces.

    She is the daughter of Karrie and Stevie Pittman. Her grandparents are Glenn and Judy Tungate.

    Crisis Relief Center volunteers were recognized last week for their dedication to meeting the basic needs of Taylor Countians.

    Golda DeSpain, 85, of McClelland Court in Campbellsville, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, in Lebanon.

    Cordie Chappell, 68, of Sunset Drive in Campbellsville, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, in Campbellsville.

    Nolan Gilpin, at left, recently took a group of tourists from Pamplin Civil War Park in Petersburg, Va., on a driving tour of Tebbs Bend Battlefield Trail.

  • Shelley Bowen and Shawn Hamilton of Louisville announce the birth of a son, Blake Thomas Hamilton, at 12:41 a.m. on Sept. 19 at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville. He weighed 9 pounds and was 20.5 inches long.

    Grandparents are Mike and April Bowen of Campbellsville, Martena Hamilton of Louisville and the late Garry Hamilton.

    Great-grandparents are J.R. and Bernice Bowen and Bob and Laverne Kennon of Campbellsville and the late Mout Burton Jr.

    Oct. 24, 2002

    Taylor County High School sophomore Shane O'Banion, 15, captured two championships at the Pepsi Kentucky State Motocross Championships at Daniel Boone Motocross Park in London on Sept. 28.

    Thomas H. Hazzard of Campbellsville completed a degree at Western Kentucky University in August 2002. He received a Master of Arts in education.

    Local group Boy Scouts of America Troop 616 visited Ft. Knox on Oct. 12-14 to participate in Patriot Games.

    Patriot Games is a council-wide encampment. The event had been hosted in 2003, 2005 and 2007. After that, organizers took a break from hosting the event because of the high level of commitment from our armed forces.

    In 2007, more than 8,000 Scouts, leaders and visitors enjoyed a weekend of camping, activities, displays, challenge courses, archery, fishing, Patton Museum tours, military vehicles, aircraft and much more.

    Two local couples recently graduated from prenatal and childbirth classes taught by Taylor Regional Hospital, including Racheal Achieng and Damian Flores of Columbia and Ja'Mecia Washington and Wanda Washington of Campbellsville.

    Classes are taught on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at the TRH meeting room.

    The class is a five-week series and is free to anyone delivering at TRH.

    As major cities begin their homeless counts in January, a new novel by a former Campbellsville resident will show the vivid reality of millions of young people with no place to call home. "Anonymity," by national bestselling author Janna McMahan, will detail the daily life of one girl alone on the streets.

    McMahan was influenced to write "Anonymity" when she saw a girl whose face was a mask of intricate tattoos.
