    Otha Blevins, 75, of Hunters Run in Campbellsville, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, in Campbellsville.

    Campbellsville University's Board of Trustees approved $7 million in three major construction projects and a renovation in a special meeting May 29, which, according to President Michael V. Carter, was "one of the most memorable days in the history of our institution."

    Meagan Lynette Rafferty and Bryan Casey Ford of Campbellsville announce their engagement.

    Rafferty is the daughter of Randal and Lee Anna Rafferty of Campbellsville. She is a 2011 graduate of the University of Kentucky and is the owner of Broadway Auto Mart.

    Ford is the son of Bo and Regina Meeks of Campbellsville and the late David Ford. He is employed at Blevins Construction.

    The private ceremony will be Saturday, June 15. Invitations have been sent.

    Lindsay Marie Haskins and Shelby Alan Gribbins announce their engagement.

    Haskins is the son of Kevin and Crissy Willis of Bowling Green and Ken Haskins of Nashville, Tenn.

    She is the granddaughter of David and Diana Hastings of Bowling Green and Kenneth and Sylvia Haskins of Gallatin, Tenn., and the great-granddaughter of Jacob and Edith Miller of Wood River, Ill. She is the step-granddaughter of Loyd and Shirley Willis of Lewisburg.

    Verlas and Bettie Bradshaw Miller of Campbellsville will celebrate 50 years of marriage on Saturday, June 22, at 4 p.m. at Mt. Washington Baptist Church in Raywick.

    Their daughter, Ronna Mills, and grandchildren Brittany and Bobby McMahan and Shawn Mills, will host the celebration.

    The couple requests no gifts.

    J.T. and Sue Rafferty of Campbellsville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Lowell Avenue Baptist Church.

    Their daughter, Cyndi Rafferty-Brackett, will host the celebration.

    The couple also has two grandchildren. They request no gifts.

    John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president at Campbellsville University, and his secretary, Sheila Douglas, were presented service recognition awards by the Taylor County Ministerial Association at its May 2 breakfast meeting at CU.

    Campbellsville native Hannah Ellis recently sang her song "Let It Be Me" at the Fallen Officer's Memorial Service on the West Lawn of the United States capital in honor of National Police Week.

    She shared the stage with country music star Lee Brice who sang his song "I Drive Your Truck."

    President Barack Obama was the keynote speaker.

    Also in attendance was Speaker of the House John Boehner and many members of the president's cabinet.

    Taylor Regional Hospital awarded its annual Nurse of the Year and Nurse Extender of the Year awards recently.  The Nurse of the Year and Nurse Extender of the Year are chosen by their peers.

    Nominees for nurse of the year were: Tasha Garrett, RN; Carolyn Buckman, RN; Debra Rutledge, LPN; and Patty Yaden, RN. Patty Yaden was chosen as this year's winner.

    Yaden has been a team member at TRH since 2001.  She and her husband, David, have three children, Lauren, Emily and Nick.

    The staff at Taylor Regional Hospital Wound Healing Center recently celebrated its sixth anniversary. The health care specialists at the center provide a treatment plan designed specifically for the patient's individual needs. The center has a healing rate of more than 95 percent.

    Emma Miles and Sierra DeMurray of Campbellsville recently cut and donated their hair to Locks of Love. Miles is the daughter of Patty Raley. DeMurray is the daughter of Jason and Kay DeMurray.

    Miles donated 10.5 inches and DeMurray cut 11. Kay DeMurray did the cutting.

    Locks of Love is a nonprofit organization that provides hair pieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada who are suffering long-term medical hair loss from an illness.
