    Taylor Regional Hospital hosted a baby fair on Thursday, May 18, with informational booths for expecting women.

    Tours of the women's center were given and those who attended heard speakers discuss breastfeeding and obstetrics issues.

  • This year's Taylor County Fair is offering pageants for those of all ages beginning Monday, June 4.

    All pageant contestants must pay $10 gate admission. Pre-registration will be accepted with a $30 entry fee by Thursday, May 31. However, registration will be available the day of the pageants for a $40 cash only entry fee.

    Pageants are open to any Kentucky resident.

    Pre-registration forms must be sent to Taylor County Fair Pageants, P.O. Box 269, Campbellsville, Ky., 42719.

    Petty Officer Crystal S. Janes of Campbellsville was one of six military members honored recently by GEICO.

    Janes received a 2011 GEICO Military Service Award for her dedication to drug and alcohol abuse prevention.

    Janes is stationed at the Fleet Readiness Center West at Naval Air Station, Joint Reserve Base, in Forth Worth, Texas.

    Girl Scout Troop 794 recently visited the Campbellsville/Taylor County EMS facility.

    While on site, the girls completed a basic first aid/CPR class.

    Troop 794 is shown with Assistant EMS Director Mike Curnutte and troop leaders Jennifer Willis and Angie Wilson.

    Two couples graduated from Taylor Regional Hospital's prenatal and childbirth classes in February.

    From left are Shannon Bishop and Steve Ford of Greensburg and Jessica and Kevin Sammuell of Campbellsville.

    Classes are taught on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at Taylor Regional Hospital's meeting room.

    The classes are a five-week series and are free to anyone delivering at TRH.

    The class is taught by Nicole Collins, RN, CCE.

  • The Taylor County Fair offers rides, competitions, food, fellowship and much more. But for those looking to strut their horses, this year's annual horse competitions will be Saturday, June 2.

    The Taylor County Youth Horse Show is for children of all ages.

    The Friends of Green River Lake group hosted its second annual "I'm a Dam Runner" 5K walk/run on Saturday, May 12.

    Nearly 220 people participated in 13 different male and female age groups.

    May 16, 2002

    Bonnie Mikel, 50, of Miller Road in Campbellsville, died on Tuesday, May 7, 2002, as a result of an automobile crash.

    Taylor County Middle School eighth-grade chorus recently received a distinguished rating at the Kentucky Music Educator Association's Regional Choral Festival held at John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown.

    Elkhorn United Methodist Church will host a fish fry and gospel singing on Saturday at Acton Retreat Center.

  • Though the rides won't begin until two days later, the Taylor County Fair opens on Saturday, June 2, with the annual beef, dairy and youth shows.

    The Taylor County Fair Open Dairy Show and Open Youth Show will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, at the Taylor County Fairgrounds.

    Supreme senior champion will receive $300. Supreme junior champion will receive $200.

    Breeds competing will be Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Holstein and Jersey, red and white.
