  • GCU hosts teen leadership day

     

    Greater Campbellsville United recently hosted Campbellsville/Taylor County Teen Leadership Diversity Day at Campbellsville University.

    Students participated in various activities that promoted positive relationships as friends and upcoming community leaders.

    The day included getting to meet each other, viewing of "The Witness," which is the last hours of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life, along with musical entertainment and lunch.

  • Smiths celebrate 25th anniversary

     

    Regina A. and Gregory T. Smith of Campbellsville will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Nov. 16.

    The Smiths were married Nov. 16, 1988. They have two children, Amy Bottom and Breanna Smith of Campbellsville.

  • Durrett, Caulk to wed

     

    Sherri LeAnn Durrett of Summersville and Jeremy Keith Caulk of Campbellsville announce their engagement.

    Durrett is the daughter of Mike and Judy Durrett of Summersville.

    She is employed at the Green County Clerk's Office.

    Caulk is the son of Marshall Caulk and Peggy Caulk of Campbellsville.

    He is employed at Caulk Construction LLC.

    The ceremony will be Saturday, Nov. 2, at 3:30 p.m. at Oak Forest Church in Gabe. A reception will follow.

  • Oakeses celebrate 66th wedding anniversary

     

    Stanley and Henrietta Oakes of Campbellsville celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on Oct. 17. The couple was married in Marion County in 1947.

    They have two children, Mark Oakes and Linda Russell, four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

  • Pace, Clements honored with wedding shower

     

    Lindsey Pace and Thomas Clements were recently honored with a wedding shower at Campbellsville Baptist Church.

    The ceremony was Friday, Oct. 25, in Hilton Head, S.C.

  • Birth Announcements for October 24

    Kasey Lee and Brandon Ray Clark of Campbellsville announce the birth of a son, Samuel Lane Clark, at 9:27 a.m. on Oct. 7 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. He weighed 7 pounds, 9.75 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Grandparents are Jerry and Chicquita Whitlock and Faye and Gordon Clark.

    Great-grandparents are Pearly and Debbie Rose, Rita Whitlock, Ruby Clark, Arvin Whitlock, Gordon Clark, Donald and Martha Benningfield and the late Barbara Rose.

  • Stearman, Jones to wed

     

    Creacy LaShae Stearman of Greensburg and Timothy Dean Jones of Louisville announce their engagement.

    Stearman is the daughter of Steve and Janet Stearman of Greensburg. She is the granddaughter of Junior and Brenda Stearman of Vine Grove and the late Creacy Jane Stearman and Everett "Britch" and Margie Skaggs.

    Jones is the son of Jim and Gloria Driskell of Louisville.

  • Hinton re-enlists in Kentucky National Guard

     

    Sgt. Jonathan Hinton of Campbellsville has re-enlisted in the Kentucky National Guard for six more years.

    Hinton and Jason Simpson are members of Bravo Battery 1/623 in Campbellsville. Several members of the unit have been deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom since January and are to return home before the end of October.

    Hinton is the son of Dr. Stephen and Deborah Hinton of Campbellsville.

  • Women's group donates pillow cases to TRH

     

    The Baptist Missionary Women's Group at Beech Grove Baptist Church recently made personalized pillow cases for the women's center and pediatric wings at Taylor Regional Hospital.

    Patients will be able to take the pillow cases home with them.

  • Fire and rescue engineers promoted

     

    Campbellsville Fire & Rescue engineers Steve Marrs, Tony Grider and Chris Taylor were promoted to captain in a pinning ceremony at Campbellsville City Council meeting on Oct. 7.
