  • A nap with Santa

     

    Carter Lee of Lexington tried to stay awake on Christmas Eve to see Santa but missed him. When Santa arrived, he decided to take a nap too.

    Lee is the son of Billy and Marylee Underwood of Lexington and is the grandson of Larry and Gail Underwood of Campbellsville.

  • Grandview presents 'The Hall of Trees'

     

    The Grandview Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility hosted its annual "The Hall of Trees" in December.

    Local businesses decorated trees and donated gifts to be auctioned to raise money for the Toys for Tots and Toys for Kids fundraisers.

    The trees were on display throughout the Christmas season.

  • Marple, Rudd to wed

     

    Amanda Marple and Rob Rudd of Owensboro announce their engagement.

    Marple is the daughter of Freddie and Sallie Marple of Knifley.

    She is the sales and marketing specialist for The Farmer's Pride newspaper.

    Rudd is the territory sales manager for Southern States in Calhoun.

    A spring wedding is planned. The couple will live in Owensboro.

  • Horton, Lawless to wed

    Allison Horton of Rineyville and Lincoln Lawless of Campbellsville announce their engagement.

    Horton is the daughter of Jim and Michelle Horton of Lanesville, Ind. She is the granddaughter of Ben Horton of Madison, Ind., Brenda Estes of Hanover, Ind., and the late Joan Horton.

    Horton graduated from Campbellsville University with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and from Bellarmine University with a Master of Arts in teaching. She is employed as a high school chemistry teacher and a softball coach in Brandenburg.

  • Son wins annual family cooking contest

     

    Campbellsville native Aaron Phillips has won the third annual Phillips family cooking competition that puts him against his mother, Campbellsville resident Patti Phillips.

    Aaron, who is in the United States Navy and is stationed in Hawaii, has won the competition for the past two years.

    The contest consists of an appetizer, main course and dessert.

    Some surprise ingredients were dill pickles, crawfish and pineapple.

    The competition will be in Hawaii next year.

  • INFAC donates $3,000 to Green River Ministries

     

    INFAC Corp. recently donated $3,000 to Green River Ministries of Campbellsville to support its operations as a homeless shelter.

    Inside the Green River Ministries Complex are offices for Taylor County Crisis Relief, Taylor County Ministerial Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity and the Lions Club.

    "We are pleased to make this donation to a great organization who is helping citizens of Campbellsville and Taylor County that are in need," Brian Bland, INFAC general manager, said.

  • TRH presents Service Awards to auxiliary volunteers

     

    Taylor Regional Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers had its annual awards luncheon on Dec. 4.

    With 49 workers, the auxiliary has given 8,139 volunteer hours this year to help TRH by working at the information desk, surgery department, emergency department, radiology department, cancer center, gift shop and as greeters. The auxiliary also collected canned food items to be donated to the local food pantry as part of its service to the community.

  • Birth Announcements for Jan. 17

    Jamie and Sammy Blakeman of Greensburg announce the birth of a son, Brady James Blakeman, at 2:25 p.m. on Dec. 4 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. He weighed 6 pounds, 15.5 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Grandparents are J.T. and Shelia Stearman, Mike and Brenda Blakeman and Betty Judd, all of Greensburg.

    Ginger and Shawn Allen of Campbellsville announce the birth of a daughter, Sage Presley Allen, at 10:43 a.m. on Dec. 10 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. She weighed 7 pounds, 13.5 ounces and was 20 inches long.

  • Schwab celebrates 10th birthday

     

    Aleah Schwab recently celebrated her 10th birthday at Phillips Lanes Bowling Alley

  • Agee retires from Comcast

     

    Julius Agee recently retired after 45 years of service at Comcast.

    There was a celebration in Agee's honor on Jan. 4 at the Community Center.
