  • Grays to celebrate anniversary

     

    G.E. and Louise Gray of Campbellsville will celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary on Monday, June 23. The couple was married in Jessetown on June 23, 1951.

    The Grays have two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Mary Gray of Campbellsville and Jamie and Bobbi Gray of Georgetown.

    They have three grandchildren, Lindsay Gray of Campbellsville and Jacob Gray and Savannah Marie Gray of Georgetown.

    The Grays will celebrate their anniversary with friends and family.

  • Newton, Thompson to wed

     

    Carrie JoBeth Newton and Jeremy Trent Thompson of Campbellsville announce their engagement.

    Newton is the daughter of Helen and Lowell Jones and Mike and Mila Newton of Columbia.

    She has a master's degree in education from Lindsey Wilson College and is a language arts teacher at St. Charles Middle School in Lebanon.

    Thompson is the son of Randy and Jody Thompson and Deborah and David Mouser of Campbellsville.

    He is a 2003 Taylor County High School graduate and is employed at Campbellsville Water and Sewer.

  • War of 1812 soldier honored with new grave marker

     

    A crowd of people gathered on Memorial Day to pay honor to those from Taylor County who fought in the War of 1812.

    Campbellsville residents Teresa Spurling and Chuck Darnell spent several months tracking down the history of Spurling's third great-grandfather, Stephen Harding, who fought in the war.

    And they, along with family members, the Marion County Honor Guard and the public, gathered to honor those who died in the war and to unveil a new stone to honor Harding.

  • Soldier returns home from deployment

     

    Sgt. Matthew J. Mowery of Huber Heights, Ohio, recently returned home from a one-year deployment to Sinai, Egypt. He is stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, and previously served a year in South Korea.

    Mowery is the grandson of James R. and Fay Tucker of Campbellsville and the great-grandson of the late LeeRoy and Florence Sallee and Sara Tucker.

    He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in finance and a master's degree in sports leadership.

  • Ten-year-old recovering from surgery

     

    Neely Nichole Gannon, 10, who has family ties to Campbellsville, is recovering from having surgery in Florida.

    She is the daughter of David and Beth Gannon of Richmond and the granddaughter of Nolan and Rita Underwood of Campbellsville.

    Neely had surgery on May 6 and again May 16 for a birth defect. She has a cast from her hip to foot on the right side of her body. She will undergo therapy in Florida through August.

  • Former resident nominated for regional Emmy awards

     

    LEX 18 recently announced that it has received 10 Regional Emmy nominations from the Ohio Valley chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. In all, 14 people, including a Campbellsville native, were honored with nominations in ten categories.

    Three people on LEX18's staff received multiple nominations.

    Nancy Cox, formerly of Campbellsville, received four nominations for her work as an anchor and reporter.

  • Birth Announcements for June 5

    Kelly and Ronnie Allen of Campbellsville announce the birth of a son, Landon Lee Allen, at 11:21 p.m. on May 6 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. He weighed 5 pounds, 13 ounces and was 18 inches long.

    Grandparents are Eunice Allen and Tassie Seals of Campbellsville and Robert Sears of Mannsville. Step-grandmother is Tammy Seals of Mannsville.

    Great-grandparents are Wanda Tungate and James Tungate of Campbellsville.

  • DYW program set for June 7

     

    Taylor County's Distinguished Young Women program will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, at Campbellsville High School's Hamilton Auditorium.

    This year's contestants are Abby Hieneman, Brooke Kearney, Gabby Pyles, Hannah Howard, Jilly Benningfield, Kassie Miller, Rachel Hinton, Rylee Beard, Savannah DeLagarza, Savannah Nolley, Taylor Smoot and Tori Cochran.

  • Hall, Squires to wed

     

    Paige Hall and Bubby Squires announce their engagement.

    Hall is the daughter of Dennis and Melinda Hall of Greensburg.

    She is the granddaughter of Jeanie Hall of Greensburg and the late Robert Hall and Walter Randall and Nancy Milby.

    Hall is a 2005 graduate of Green County High School and a 2009 graduate of Campbellsville University. She is employed by Ross & Co. of Louisville, operating an office in Greensburg.

    Squires is the son of Mike Squires and Trena Durham of Campbellsville.

  • Couples graduate from prenatal class

     

    Two couples graduated from prenatal and childbirth classes taught at Taylor Regional Hospital this month. They are Jennie and Jon Begley and Cora Bailey and Thomas Long, all of Columbia.

    Classes are taught on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. and the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at TRH's meeting room.

    Classes are free to anyone delivering at TRH and are taught by Nicole Collins, RN, CCE.
