• Birth Announcements for August 15

    Tammy and Jamie Phelps of Columbia announce the birth of a daughter, Abella Jazmyn Phelps, at 10:06 a.m. on July 13 at Taylor Regional Hospital. She weighed 8 pounds and was 19.75 inches long.

    Grandparents are Robert Phelps of Columbia and Sandy and Lee Rainwater and Clifford and Joyce Logan of Somerset.

    Makayla Dawn and Daniel W. Cornett of Liberty announce the birth of a daughter, Gena Lynn Cornett, at 5:03 p.m. on July 31 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. She weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces and was 18.5 inches long.

  • Riverses celebrate 50th wedding anniversary


    Wendell and Quida Rivers of Campbellsville recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

    Richard McKinley married the couple June 21, 1963. The ceremony was the first at Woodlawn Christian Church.

  • Calhoun, Rice to wed


    Kimberly Calhoun and Kenyon Rice of Louisville announce their engagement.

    Calhoun is the daughter of Phyllis Calhoun of Campbellsville and the late Max Calhoun.

    Rice is the son of Pete and Vonnie Rice of Campbellsville.

    Calhoun and Rice are employed at UPS in Louisville.

    The ceremony will be Saturday, Aug. 24, in Louisville. Invitations have been sent.

  • Washington promoted to major


    United States Army Capt. Bridget Washington was recently promoted to major.

    Washington's family, which includes the Rev. James and Wanda Washington of Campbellsville, were a part of the pinning ceremony at Brooke Army Medical Center Chapel at Fort Sam in Houston, Texas.

  • Perkins, Kelly to wed


    Haley Camille Perkins of Campbellsville and James Christopher Kelly of Springfield announce their engagement.

    Perkins is the daughter of Andy and Valerie Perkins of Campbellsville. She is the granddaughter of Evelyn Perkins and Bonnie Nolley of Campbellsville.

    Kelly is the son of Dianna Kelly of Louisville and Donnie Kelly of Springfield.

    The ceremony will be Saturday, Aug. 10, at 6 p.m. at Sweetheart Bridge in Springfield. A reception will follow.

    All family and friends are invited to attend.

  • Barnetts celebrate 65th wedding anniversary


    Richard and Virginia Barnett of Campbellsville recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at their home.

    The Barnetts were married Aug. 6, 1948. They have a son, Ricky Barnett, and a daughter, Elizabeth Sanders, both of Campbellsville.

  • GCU receives grant for oral history project

    The Kentucky Oral History Commission recently announced that $18,723 in grant funds have been awarded to preserve Kentucky's stories. And Taylor County will receive $1,379 of that amount.

    The awards preserve the stories of life in Kentucky by funding the collection of new oral history interviews and the preservation of existing ones.

    Now in its 37 year, the KOHC, an agency of the Kentucky Historical Society, has helped document more than 30,000 interviews, from all 120 counties of the Commonwealth.

  • TRH names summer ambassador


    Liz Taylor has been named the Taylor Regional Hospital summer ambassador. Brandi Rector, Jean Suratt and Patty Yaden were also nominated.

    Taylor was nominated by a team member. The following was written about her on a nomination form.

    "Liz is such a pleasure to work with. Regardless of the situation, you can always rely on Liz to keep a level head and do her job.  She deals with every situation with such a professional manner.

  • Kilby family has annual reunion

    The annual Kilby family and friends reunion was June 22 at Acton Retreat Center. Fifty people attended.

    Those attending from out of state included Larry Wagner of Jacksonville, Fla.; Ella Kilby Wagner and Sharon Wagner Mai of Ocala, Fla.; Bill and Ruth Kilby Van Cleave of Boulder, Colo.; Jeremy and LeAnne Matney Smith and Zachary, Colin and Peyton of McKinney, Texas; Betty Rogers of Bristol, Tenn.; Don and Carol Kilby Edwards of Crossville, Tenn.; Juliana Ortega of Jasper, Ind.; and Michael Van Cleave of Paris, France.

  • Beams family has reunion


    The Beams family met for its annual reunion on June 29 at Acton Retreat Center.

    Attending from out of state were Ronald and Carolyn Beams of Floyd Knobs, Ind., and Charles and Velda Beams and grandson Cohen Taylor of Henderson, Tenn.

    Attending from Kentucky were Lauren Glover and her sons Lane, Ayden, Mason and Aubrey Blue of Sebree; David and Beth Gannon and daughters Allyson and Neely of Richmond; James and Jennifer Davenport and daughters Jillian and Jasmine of Liberty; and Brian Beams and daughter Sarah of Taylorsville.
