  • Thomas-Bright

    Jamie Rene' Thomas and John Marshall Bright, both of Danville, will exchange wedding vows on Friday, Feb. 29.

    Thomas is the daughter of Juanita Hardgrove of Danville and the late Wilbur Hardgrove.

    She is a 1981 graduate of Boyle County High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. She is employed with Boyle County Board of Education as a kindergarten instructional assistant at Woodlawn Elementary. She is also a hostess at the Danville Cracker Barrel.

    Bright is the son of Geneva Bright of Campbellsville and the late Harse Bright.

  • Birth Announcements for Jan. 24

    Anthony Scott and Reva Jean Rapier of Greensburg announce the birth of a son, Scott Wesley, at 9:40 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. He weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Grandparents are John and Janrose Rapier of Greensburg and Nell Marcum of Hopkinsville.

    Dayna Holmes and Sean A. Estes of Campbellsville announce the birth of twin daughters, Madison Danielle Estes and Chyenne Kailen Estes, on Sunday, Jan. 6 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.

    Grandmother is Vikki Wheeler.

  • Gore completes basic training

    Army National Guard Pvt. Brandi M. Gore has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

    During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

  • Wilson Kids Corner

    Jack William Wilson, born Dec. 1, is the son of Richie and Tracy Wilson of Oxfordshire, England. His grandparents are William and Suzanne Turner of Campbellsville and Jim and Francis Wood of Hook Norton, Oxfordshire. He also has an aunt and uncle, Kathryn and Richard Payne.

  • Morris Kids Corner

    Brady Christopher Morris celebrated his first birthday Nov. 13. He is the son of John and Tina Morris of Simpsonville. He also has an older sister, Brooklyn Elizabeth Morris. Grandparents are Dennis and Frances Morris of Campbellsville, Debbie Rose and Jackie Rose, both of McKee. Great-grandparents are Datha Davidson, Owen and Bernice Rose, all of McKee, and the late Dewey Davidson, Thurman and Hortense Watson and Thomas and Ruby Morris.

  • Pittman-Rakes

    Wanda Pittman and Vernal Rakes, both of Campbellsville, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, Feb. 16.

    The ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. at First Church of God. A reception will follow at The Double Nickel, formerly The Country Music Stampede, located at 55 Donna Lane, just off KY 55 across from Performance Marine.

    All family members and friends are invited to attend. No invitations will be sent.

  • Newton Kids Corner

    Chloe Faith Newton is the 5-year-old daughter of Chris Newton and Paula Read and Jack Hall, all of Campbellsville. Her grandparents are Beverly and Paul Pike of Campbellsville, Donnie Newton of Indianapolis, Ind. and the late David Paul Read and Carolyn Read.

  • Former Campbellsville woman is Indiana lawmaker

    A few hours before members of the Indiana General Assembly convened for Organization Day, House Democrats welcomed State Rep. Sandra Blanton (D-Orleans) as Indiana's newest lawmaker.

    Blanton, 58, formerly of Campbellsville, will serve as a replacement for State Rep. Jerry Denbo (D-French Lick), who announced his retirement in November.

    According to a news release from the Indiana House Democratic Caucus, Denbo had represented House District 62 - which includes all of Orange County and parts of Greene, Lawrence, Martin and Washington counties - since 1990.

  • The Bluegrass Pioneers perform at Lebanon

    The Bluegrass Pioneers finished second in the 2008 Kentucky Bluegrass Music Kickoff in Lebanon on Jan. 4-5. They received $250. Members are: Trent Roy (banjo), Jeff Roy (mandolin) and Kenneth Roy (guitar), all of Casey County, Daniel Wilson (guitar) of Russell Springs and Lynn Benningfield (bass) of Campbellsville.

  • Edwards Kids Corner

    Briley Grace Edwards celebrated her first birthday on Dec. 12. She is the daughter of Bobby Edwards and Ashley Clark, both of Greensburg. Her grandparents are Phyllis and David King, Steve and Connie Wood and Mike and Bonnie Clark, all of Campbellsville, and Wayne Edwards and Vikki Edwards, both of Greensburg.
