  • Cocanougher-Bruce

    Christen Ann Cocanougher and Kacy Michael Bruce will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, July 19.

    Cocanougher is the daughter of Gene and Susie Cocanougher of Nicholasville. Her grandparents are Carolla Cocanougher of Lexington and Opal Day of Dayton, Ohio.

    She is a 2004 graduate of Lexington Christian Academy and will graduate from Western Kentucky University in December with a degree in elementary education.

    Bruce is the son of Mike and Karen Bruce of Campbellsville. His grandparents are Don and Barbara Bruce and Billy and Arlene Milby, all of Campbellsville.

  • Humphress

    Hancel and Elizabeth Humphress will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, July 12.

    The Humphresses were married on July 12, 1958, in Louisville by the Rev. C.A. Brown.

    A reception will be hosted in their honor from 2 to 5 p.m. in Campbellsville Baptist Church's Fireside Room.

    All relatives and friends are invited to attend. They request no gifts.

  • Scott-Port

    Darrell and Sandy Scott of Breeding announce the engagement of their daughter, Samantha Scott of Smiths Grove, to Derek Port of Campbellsville, the son of Jim and Karen Port of Sterling, Ill.

    Scott is a graduate of Adair County High School and Western Kentucky University, where she earned a master's degree in nursing education. She is employed by Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown as the obstetrical educator.

  • Barnett, Sollberger honored with shower

    Robyn Barnett and Jeremy Sollberger were honored with a wedding shower on Sunday, June 1 at Saloma Baptist Church. Pictured are, from left, Jessica Coppage, hostess; Sheila Sollberger, the groom's mother; Jeremy and Robyn; Shelby Barnett, the bride's daughter; Rebecca Phillips, the bride's mother; and Laura Marcum, hostess. The couple will exchange wedding vows at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 12 at All Occasions. Family and friends are invited to attend.

  • Special pillows offer comfort for women facing surgery

    Everyone has a favorite pillow. And some local women have one made especially for them.

    The heart-shaped pillows that Edna Gunsaules sews for women who have undergone breast cancer and OB-GYN surgery meets a need.

    Susan Blevins, a breast cancer survivor and recipient of one of the pillows, said the pillow actually helped ease the pain after having her lymph nodes removed during breast cancer surgery.

    Blevins still uses the pillow today.

  • Phelps deployed overseas

    Army National Guard Staff Sgt. James J. Phelps has been mobilized and activated at Fort McCoy in Sparta, Wis., for deployment overseas to a forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The soldier is a member of the 201st Engineer Battalion in Cynthiana.

  • Local women attend BPW leadership conference

    Renay England and Wanda Washington attended the 86th annual Business and Professsional Women's conference in Bowling Green on June 7.

    Highlights of the conference included sessions on business meetings, foundation fundraisers, Young Careerist, individual development, speak-off and numerous awards.

    Washington, who is past president of Campbellsville BPW, received the Excellent Leadership Award for her service as assistant regional director for 2006-2008.

    Motivational humorist Anne Murray was the conference's keynote speaker.

  • Rice gets visit from Wags dog

    Roca Rice, a native of Campbellsville, enjoys a hug from a Wags pet therapy dog at Atria Assisted Living in Elizabethtown. Wags Pet Therapy of Kentucky Inc. visits nursing homes and assisted living communities.

  • Birth Announcements

    Brandon and Ginger Warren of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of a son, Luke Michael, at 5:34 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. He weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces and was 19.75 inches long.

    Grandparents are Jerry and Regina Shely of Lawrenceburg and Larry and Brenda Warren of Campbellsville.

    Great-grandmother is Nancy Dixon of Knifley.

  • Buckner mobilized for deployment
