  • Pickett-Allen engagement

    Jade Pickett and Tommy Allen, both of Campbellsville, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, June 14.

    Pickett is the daughter of Robert Picket of Campbellsville and the late Fran Pickett. Her grandparents are the late Thomas and Elender Cox and Robert Pickett.

    She is a 2005 graduate of Taylor County High School.

    Allen is the son of Ken and Kay Dudley and Alton and Nancy Allen, all of Campbellsville. His grandparents are Loren and Sue Howe of Troy, Ind., and the late Walter and Brunetta Allen.

    He is a 2004 graduate of Campbellsville High School.

  • Hale-Eller engagement

    Kristin M. Hale and William "Will" Eller, both of Bowling Green, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, June 14.

    Hale is the daughter of Linda and Michael Milby of Campbellsville and Steve and CJ Hale of Burkesville. Her grandparents are Clifton and Geraldine Hale of Campbellsville.

    Eller is the son of Bill Eller of Scottsville and Debbie and Darrell Walthall of Owensboro.

    The wedding ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. ET at Fairview Union Methodist Church in Bowling Green. A reception will follow.

    Invitations have been sent.

  • Birth announcements

    Dr. Matthew and Melissa Marshbanks of Bowling Green announce the birth of a daughter, Addison Claire, at 5:57 p.m. on Thursday, April 10 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. She weighed 7 pounds and was 21 inches long.

    Grandparents are Rhonda and Marvin Marshbanks of Stanford and Leon and Wanda Shepherd of Campbellsville.

    Chris and Valerie Brooker of Louisville announce the birth of a daughter, Emily Wilson Brooker, at 9:34 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. She weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.

  • Abell celebrates second birthday

    Madison Angelina Abell celebrated her second birthday on May 13 in Glan-Munchweiler, Germany, where her father is stationed at Ramstein AFB. She is the daughter of Samantha and Edward Lee Abell Jr. Her grandparents are Edward and Barbara Abell of Casey Creek and Mike and Carolyn Graham of Waynesville, N.C. Great-grandparents are Alan and Irene Humphress of Campbellsville, Oscar and Gail Lott of Waynesville, Carolyn Graham of Memphis, Tenn., and the late James Graham and Clarence and Rowena Sween.

  • Shortage of volunteers hurting local girls

    In 2007, nearly a thousand girls in Kentuckiana missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime. They were denied the chance to develop the skills needed to discover their potential, to connect with their communities and to take action to solve the world's problems. These girls wanted to join Girl Scouts but could not because of a shortage of volunteers.

    Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana CEO Terry Blackwell wants every girl to have a home in Girl Scouting.

  • Pack 777 hosts fishing derby

    Pack 777 had a fishing derby at City Lake on May 17. Winners are, in front: Timothy "TJ" Lawson, biggest fish; Devin O'Keefe, tiniest fish and most fish caught; and Nicholas Smith, ugliest fish. Back: Chris and Carla Garrett, fishing derby co-chairs and Bear den leaders for the pack.

  • Rakes honored with bridal shower

    Kelli Rakes was honored with a bridal shower on Sunday, May 4 at Green River Memorial Baptist Church. Pictured are, from left, Peggy Caulk, the groom's aunt; Reba Martin, the groom's grandmother; Janet Edwards, the groom's mother; Rakes; Patricia Rakes, the bride's mother; and Annie Rakes, the bride's sister. Rakes will marry Brad Brockman on Saturday, June 7.

  • Ford celebrates eighth birthday

    Lilly Kathryn Pickett, born March 15, is the daughter of Chris and Anna Pickett of Bardstown. Her grandparents are Nelson and Nancy Pickett of Greensburg, Sam and Anita Clements of Springfield and the late Donna Clements. Great-grandparents are Sue Clements and Murray and Ann Smith, all of Springfield, and Stanford and Elnora Pickett of Greensburg.
