  • Birth Announcements

    Phillip and Tina Craig of Lebanon announce the birth of twin daughters, Kinley Rae and Shelby Jo, on Thursday, March 6 at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville. Kinley Rae, born at 10:54 p.m., weighed 3 pounds, 7 ounces and was 16 inches long. Shelby Jo, born at 10:55 p.m., weighed 4 pounds, 2 ounces and was 16 1/2 inches long.

    Grandparents are Mary Lou and Leonard Spalding and Harold and Dorothy Jean Craig, all of Lebanon.

    Great-grandparent is Frank Murphy of Lebanon.

  • Rakes-Brockman

    Kelli Rene Rakes and Bradley Owen Brockman, both of Campbellsville, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, June 7.

    Rakes is the daughter of Patricia Rakes and Larry Rakes, both of Campbellsville. Her grandparents are the late Ernest and Ann Dial and Lanis and Marie Rakes.

    She is a graduate of Campbellsville High School.

    Brockman is the son of Janet and Rocky Edwards and Frank Owen and Patti Brockman, all of Campbellsville. His grandparents are Reba and Doug Martin of Campbellsville and the late Ray and Fran Brockman.

  • GOP women host annual Lincoln dinner

    Taylor County Republican Women recently hosted their annual Lincoln Dinner. Speakers included, from left, Brian Smith, representing Brett Guthrie, who is running for Congress; Daniel London, representing State Rep. Ron Lewis; Russell Montgomery, candidate for state representative; Marlyn Shreve, president of the Republican women's club; Bam Carney and Asa Swan, candidates for state representative.

  • Castaas-Thompson wedding

    Marvie Castañas and Kevin Leon Thompson exchanged wedding vows on Saturday, April 12 in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

    The bride is the daughter of Peter and Edna Castañas.

    The groom is the son of Linda Kay Thompson, formerly of Greensburg and Campbellsville, and the late Leon Thompson. His grandparents are Lawrence and Bessie Thompson of Campbellsville and the late Hazel Warren.

    He is employed at MSD in Louisville.

    A reception will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 at Victory General Baptist Church, 4503 Rose Farm Drive in Louisville.

  • Hash is teen scholarship winner

    Allie Shae Hash was crowned winner of the 2008 Miss Capitol City of the Bluegrass Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant.

    Hash also won the individual talent award with her vocal performance of "Don't Rain on My Parade."

    She earned superior ratings in each of the following categories: personal interview, physical fitness, talent, formal wear and on-stage performance.

    Hash received a crown, a $200 cash scholarship, a $150 gift certificate to Modiste and other prizes.

  • Werner-Lanham engagement

    Brian and Shirley Werner of Batesville, Ind. announce the engagement of their daughter, Karen Marie Werner, to Glenn Eric Lanham, son of Glenn and Beverly Lanham of Campbellsville.

    Werner is the granddaughter of Ethel and Fran Werner and Marita and Charles Billman, all of Batesville.

    She is a 2003 graduate of Batesville High School and is attending Ivy Tech Community College as a medical assistant specializing in phlebotomy. Werner is employed as a medical assistant at Oncology Hematology Care in Cincinnati.

  • 100th birthday

    Bea Wethington of Chatham, La., formerly of Campbellsville, celebrated her 100th birthday on April 2.

    She was given a party by her two daughters, Melva Beard of Chatham and Martha McCubbin of Campbellsville.

    "I got close to 100 birthday cards," Wethington said by telephone. "I haven't counted them yet. Some of them even had notes in them."

  • Pogue-Hunt engagement

    April Nycole Pogue and Patrick Hunt, both of Campbellsville, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, April 26.

    Pogue is the daughter of Jeffrey Pogue of Louisville and Leisha and John Barke of Campbellsville. Her grandparents are James and Joyce Pogue of Louisville, Lora Mae Dudgeon of Campbellsville and the late Ray Dudgeon. Great-grandparents are Lee and Rose Pogue of Campbellsville.

    She is a 2002 graduate of Taylor County High School, attended Lindsey Wilson College and is employed at Amazon.com.

  • Birth Announcements

    Curtis and Amber Ervin of Lebanon announce the birth of a daughter, Peyton Karis, at 8:21 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. She weighed 10 pounds, 5 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    Grandparents are Kathy and Glenn Vance of Campbellsville, Darrell and Patricia Priddy of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Zerelda Ervin of Greensburg and Terry and Lisa Ervin of Edmonton.

    Great-grandparents are Vontress and Gladys Jones of Campbellsville.

  • McCorkle-Burris

    Beth Ann McCorkle and Colt Austin Burris, both of Campbellsville, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, May 3.

    McCorkle is the daughter of Tim McCorkle of Canmer and Shelly Stearman of Magnolia. Her grandparents are Joe McCorkle and Shirley Meredith, both of Munfordville, and the late Leigh Dorris Butcher and Shelby Meredith.

    She is a 2002 graduate of LaRue County High School and is employed at Caf Bonin.
