  • Whitehouse-Montgomery

    Don and Julie Whitehouse of Crestwood announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Brooke Whitehouse of Lexington, to Philip David Montgomery of Louisville, son of David and Saundra Montgomery of Campbellsville.

    Whitehouse is a 2001 graduate of South Oldham High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of Kentucky. She is attending the UK M.I.C. graduate program.

  • Taylor County Junior Miss participants 'Catch the Reading Bug'

    Taylor County Junior Miss participants recently helped the Taylor County Public Library with its Summer "Catch the Reading Bug" Celebration at Veterans Memorial Park as part of their volunteer efforts with the Be Your Best Self Program.

    America's Junior Miss promotes the Be Your Best Self Program, an outreach aimed at encouraging self-esteem in young people from all over the country. BYBS emphasizes seven elements: getting a good education, community service, proper nutrition, staying fit, living by moral principles, setting goals and striving to reach those goals.

  • Barnett

    Richard and Virginia Barnett of Campbellsville will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 2.

    The Barnetts were married on Aug. 6, 1948.

    They have two children, Elizabeth Sanders and Ricky Barnett.

    A reception will be hosted in their honor on Saturday at the Campbellsville Country Club beginning at 11 a.m.

    All family members and friends are invited to attend.

  • Ward-Druin

    Whitney Lynn Ward and Jordan Druin, both of Greensburg, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, Aug. 2.

    Ward is the daughter of Hank and MaDonna Brown of LaGrange, N.C. and Barry and Lynn Ward of Summersville. Her grandparents are Barbara Hart, Charlie Perkins and Betty Lu Lile, all of Greensburg, and the late Wayne Ward.

    She is a student at the University of Kentucky.

    Druin is the son of Steve and Kathy Druin of Greensburg. His grandparents are Wayne Lile and Radine Lile, both of Greensburg, and the late Robert and Nancy Druin.

  • Payne-McKee

    Sharon McKee of Campbellsville announces the engagement of her son, Mac McKee, to Lora Beth Payne, daughter of Dennis and Faith Payne of Mt. Vernon, Ky.

    Payne is a 1998 graduate of Rockcastle County High School and a 2002 graduate of Cumberland College. She is employed as a social worker at Rockcastle Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

    McKee is a 1994 graduate of Campbellsville High School and is employed at Panasonic in Berea, Ky.

  • Fruit of the Loom unit gathers for reunion

    Staff Report

    More than two dozen former employees of Fruit of the Loom's former Campbellsville plant met recently for a reunion.

    Dixie Wise welcomed all those who attended to her home on Old Lebanon Road on Saturday, July 19.

    The women had all worked together for more than 20 years in the 3800 Unit at FOL.

  • Thomas-Clark

    Kara Beth Thomas of Lebanon and Dennis Ray Clark of Campbellsville will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, Aug. 9.

    Thomas is the daughter of Mark and Mary Thomas of Lebanon.

    She is a student at Campbellsville University.

    Clark is the son of Timmy and Susie Clark of Campbellsville.

    The wedding ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. at Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church in Lebanon. A reception will follow in the church's fellowship hall.

    All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

  • RoBards-Feige

    Mr. and Mrs. Richard RoBards of Campbellsville announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Margaret Ann RoBards, to Karl Feige of Louisville, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert H. Feige Jr.

    RoBards, of Louisville, is a sales representative for Sepacor Inc. Pharmaceuticals.

    Feige is employed at Red7e Advertising in Louisville.

    The wedding ceremony with family and close friends will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7 at Beech Mountain, N.C.

  • CHS Class of 1963 gathers for reunion

    Campbellsville High School Class of 1963 hosted its 45th reunion on July 5 at the home of Mary Osborne.

    Attendees reminisced about high school days, renewed friendships, enjoyed a dinner and played outdoor games.

    In addition to Osborne, others who helped coordinate the reunion were Beverly Elzy, Donabeth Doyle, Betty Sue Schuhmann and Jane Noe.

    Graduates of 1963 are asked to return to Osborne a brief summary of their life since 1963, their e-mail address and phone number. These will be used for the 50th reunion.

  • McConnell pays tribute to Dr. Bobby R. Himes

    U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell paid tribute to Dr. Bobby R. Himes in the Senate Congressional Record in July:

    "Mr. President, I rise to note with sadness the passing of Dr. Bobby R. Himes, a retired Campbellsville University professor and star Kentuckian who will be greatly missed. After over four decades of service to his students, his community and the commonwealth of Kentucky, he leaves behind many loved ones and a great legacy of accomplishment. He was 76 years old.
