  • Celebrating 109 years ... But who's counting?

    The sunlight streams through the window, casting a glow on her silver white hair. She sits contently in her comfy chair, a bundle of hot pink yarn in her lap that will soon become a crocheted bookmark - one of many that she gives to her visitors.

    It's a usual day for Lera Williams. Except, perhaps, that she has just received 11 more birthday cards in the mail. That totals 33 so far. And, as of Thursday, her birthday was still four days away.

    Today, Williams turns 109 years old.

  • Hedgespeth Kids Corner

    Brailey Mia Hedgespeth, 3, and William Eugene Bruin Hedgespeth, born Jan. 3, are the children of Steven and Michell Hedgespeth of Louisville. William was born at 1:45 a.m. at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville. He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and was 19 inches long. Their grandparents are William "Jack" and Lana Franklin and Larry and Mary Hedgespeth, all of Campbellsville. Great-grandmother is Valta Bland of Campbellsville.

  • Cub Scouts' Pinewood Derby

    Cub Scout Pack 777 hosted its annual Pinewood Derby on Tuesday, Jan. 20. Race winners are pictured.

     

  • Wright-Durrett

    Stella Curry Wright and Steve Durrett exchanged wedding vows on Saturday, Dec. 27 in a private ceremony attended by their children.

    The ceremony took place at Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Gabe, with the pastor, Bro. Robert Knight officiating.

    The bride's parents are Stella T. Curry and the late Lawrence Jenkins Curry. She is employed at the Lake Cumberland District Health Department in Green County.

    The groom's parents are the late Rev. Ancil and Wilma Durrett. He is employed at the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Campbellsville.

  • Birth Announcements

    Johnny and Deanna Smith of Campbellsville announce the birth of a son, Colton Charles, at 3:02 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. He weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Grandparents are Charlie and Peggy Cox and John and Paula Smith, all of Campbellsville.

    Great-grandparents are Mattie Smothers of Campbellsville and the late Paul Smothers, Buddy and Mary Jo Gribbins, James and Lola Cox and John and Sue Smith.

  • Kimbler Kids Corner

    Sophia Grace Kimbler was crowned queen on Nov. 22 at the Kentucky State Festival Pageant in Lexington. Kimbler also won "prettiest eyes." She is the 5-year-old daughter of Jay and Jessica Kimbler of Columbia. Her grandparents are Mike and Judy Humphress and Sandy Kimbler, all of Campbellsville.

  • Cunningham-Rock

    Jennifer Rhea Cunningham and Marshall Shawn Rock exchanged wedding vows on April 19, 2008, at Calvary Baptist Church.

    The Rev. Hank Ellington performed the ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Carolyn Puckett of Liberty and Jack Cunningham of Lexington.

    The groom is the son of Joe and May Rock of Campbellsville.

    Jennifer Clemmons Davis served as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Amy Logan Williamson, Kim Seaman Ramsey and Misty Rock Hafley.

    Mayci Hafley and Chloe Hafley served as the flower girls.

  • Girl Scouts earn badge of recognition

    Taylor County Junior Girl Scout Troop 222 recently earned a badge in recognition for their participation in the Toys for Tots distribution on Dec. 24.   • Sapp

    Manuel and Carolyn Sapp will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Feb. 1.

    The Sapps were married on Jan. 31, 1959.

    An open house reception will be hosted in their honor on Feb. 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Fireside Room at Campbellsville Baptist Church.

    All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

    Aline Araujo and Matthew Moore were honored with a wedding shower on Nov. 22 in the Fireside Room at Campbellsville Baptist Church. Aline is the daughter of Abigail Lemons of Belahorizante, Brazil. Matthew is the son of Dr. Jim and Nevalyn Moore of Campbellsville. They were married Dec. 27 at Campbellsville Baptist and are making their home in Euless, Texas.
