  • Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk

    Cindy Coker and Linda Hayes, center and right, recently completed their second Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk in Boston, Mass. The 60-mile walk ended at U Mass in Boston with a closing ceremony attended by 3,000 walkers and 300 volunteers. The event raised $5.1 million for the fight against breast cancer.   • Oakes-Graham

    Whitney Elizabeth Oakes and Timothy Neil Graham, both of Campbellsville, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday. Sept. 13.

    Oakes is the daughter of Mark and Rita Oakes of Campbellsville. Her grandparents are Margaret McMahan and Stanley and Henrietta Oakes, all of Campbellsville.

    She is a graduate of Campbellsville High School and is employed at Amazon.com.

    Graham is the son of Tim and Carla Graham of Campbellsville. His grandparents are Margaret Graham and Arlene Heron, both of Campbellsville.

  • Tarters honored with baby shower

    Chris and Jenna Tarter were honored with a baby shower on Saturday, Aug. 23 at the home of Dr. James and Sherri Angel. In addition to Angel, the shower was hosted by Jeanne Brown, Libby Caulk, Gayle Newton and Ann Tarter. Chris Tarter is the son of Debra Waldron and Mike Tarter of Campbellsville. The Tarters are expecting their first child, a boy, on Sept. 30.

  • Elmore honored with baby shower

    Jamie Elmore, front, third from left, was honored with a baby shower Saturday, Aug. 23 at Asbury United Methodist Church. She and her husband, Pat Elmore, formerly of Campbellsville, are having twin daughters, who are due Nov. 26. Pat Elmore is the son of Jeanette Elmore and William Lewis Elmore, both of Campbellsville, and Jamie is the daughter of J.C. and Judy Mings of Brooks, Ky. The couple live in Shepherdsville. Hostesses were, from left, seated: Debbie Brady, Elmore's aunt; Missy Laymance, Elmore and Debbie Sullivan.

  • Helm-Viers

    Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Helm announce the engagement of their daughter, Anna Helm, to Danny Viers, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Viers.

    The wedding ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Meadowview Baptist Church in Campbellsville. A reception will follow in the church's fellowship hall.

    All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

  • Marcum-Call

    Angela Michelle Marcum and Steve Casey Call will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, Sept. 20.

    Marcum is the daughter of Eddie "Hack" Marcum and Barbara Marcum of Campbellsville. Her grandparents are Martha Marcum, Bernice Lawson, Vern Tungate and the late William Marrell Marcum and Les Lawson.

    She is a graduate of Taylor County High School, Campbellsville University and the Salmon P. Chase College of Law.

    Call is the son of Steve and Dottie Call of Princeton, Ky. His grandparents are Mary Bayne Call and the late John Willard Call and Cecil and Dorothy Christine Wynn.

  • Humphress crowned Miss Adair County Teen

    Keely Star Humphress of Campbellsville was crowned Miss Adair County Teen on July 9. She will advance to the state competition in Louisville in October. She is the daughter of Kristy Nelson and the granddaughter of Mike and Judy Humphress, all of Campbellsville.

  • Shortage of volunteers hurting local girls

    Nearly a thousand girls in Kentuckiana are missing out on the chance of a lifetime. They're being denied the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than themselves. These girls want to join Girl Scouts but can't because of a shortage of volunteers.

    There are many benefits of the Girl Scout Program. Girls make new friends, help their communities and learn valuable skills they can use to become successful adults - skills like self-confidence, leadership, family values, goal setting, money management and career exploration.

  • Shofner completes Marine basic

    Edward Allen Shofner of Campbellsville graduated from Marine Corps basic on July 18 at Parris Island, S.C., after 12 weeks of basic training.

    Shofner spent 29 days at Camp Lejeune, N.C. before leaving on Aug. 26 for Fort Leavenworth, Kansas for further training.

    A 2007 graduate of Taylor County High School, he is the son of Rosemary Schuhmann of Campbellsville and Michael Shofner of Greensburg.

  • Birth Announcements

    Bill and Sherri Cheser of Springfield announce the birth of a son, Brandon Matthew, at 3:32 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. He weighed 9 pounds, 12 1/2 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long.

    Grandparents are Donn and Ginette Rethlake of Bremen, Ind. and the late Barbara Ann Cheser.

    David and Becky Graham of Bowling Green announce the birth of a son, William Edward, at 4:01 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. He weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces and was 19 inches long.
