  • Two couples complete prenatal class

    Two couples graduated from the prenatal and childbirth classes taught at Taylor Regional Hospital in January. The classes are on Tuesdays at the hospital's meeting room. The five-week series is free to anyone delivering at TRH. The class is taught by Jenny Dobson, RN, MSN, CLC, CCE.   • Edelen speaks during Friends of Scouting dinner

    Adam Edelen, chief of staff for Gov. Steve Brashear, spoke during the Friends of Scouting dinner on March 12 in the Student Activity Center at Campbellsville University. Edelen said, "Boy Scouts grow up to be presidents, business leaders and ministers. More than ever, the Boy Scout program needs to be supported by community citizens."

  • Blair-Slinker

    Terri Blair and Russ Slinker, both of Campbellsville, announce their upcoming marriage on Saturday, April 4.

    Blair is the daughter of the late Beatrice Jones and Boyer Jones. She has two daughters, Cassidy Blair and Caylie Blair, both of Campbellsville.

    She is employed at Taylor Regional Hospital.

    Slinker is the son of Curtis and Alice Slinker of Greensburg. He has a son, Nolan Slinker of Campbellsville.

    He is employed at Saver Group Inc.

    The wedding ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Campbellsville.

  • Kiwanis celebrating 50 years of service

    Campbellsville Kiwanis Club is celebrating 50 years of service to children and youth in Taylor County this year.

    Kiwanis boasts a membership of about 8,000 clubs in 96 countries. Its mission is to serve the children of the world.

    Some of this year's major projects will include:

    - Funding and construction of a Kiwanis softball field at Miller Park.

    - Providing new coats for children in local schools.

    - Assisting students to attend summer camps.

    - Helping students to attend Central Kentucky Arts Series programs.

  • Spradlin-Dennis

    Charles and Victoria Spradlin of Louisville announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Beth Spradlin, to David Clark Dennis, son of Danny and Debbie Dennis of Campbellsville.

    Spradlin is a 2002 graduate of Mercy Academy and a 2005 graduate of Bellarmine University, where she majored in communications and minored in business administration. She is employed with the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation in Louisville.

  • Birth Announcement

    Tom and Pennie Akin of Greensburg announce the birth of a daughter, Sienna Grace, at 3:17 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. She weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.

    Grandparents are Linda Thompson of Greensburg, Rollie Thompson of Mt. Sherman and Glen and Ramona Akin of Fairplay.

  • Fields donates hair to Locks of Love

    Rhiannon Fields donated 10 inches of her hair to Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to children suffering from medical hair loss. Fields is a 7-year-old student in Sarah Rodgers' class at Taylor County Elementary.

  • Rucker

    Joe and Lesta Rucker of Campbellsville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 6 with a family dinner.

    The Ruckers were married on Feb. 6, 1959, in Taylor County.

    They have a daughter, Diane Pierce; and a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jennifer Rucker, all of Campbellsville. They also have two grandchildren, Jessica Hosier and her husband Keene of Hoover, Ala., and Andy Pierce of Campbellsville; along with two step-grandchildren, Brett Skaggs and Dylan Skaggs, both of Campbellsville.

     

  • ESL students attend Kiwanis meeting

    Several students in the English as a Second Language Program at Campbellsville University recently presented a program to the Kiwanis Club of Campbellsville. About 10 percent of students at CU are international students who have represented 35 different countries from around the world. Dr. Sandra Kroh is the director of ESL.   • Gowdy Anniversary

    Bronson and Tonya Gowdy of Campbellsville will celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary by renewing their vows.

    Mrs. Gowdy is the daughter of Tony Groves of Campbellsville and the late Betty Jean Williams.

    Mr. Gowdy is the son of Debbie Gowdy Smith of Campbellsville and the late Manuel Gowdy.

    The vow renewal will take place at First Baptist Church, located at 704 E. Broadway in Campbellsville. Pastor Daniel Corey Shull will perform the ceremony.
