  • Araujo, Moore honored with wedding shower

    Aline Araujo and Matthew Moore were honored with a wedding shower on Nov. 22 in the Fireside Room at Campbellsville Baptist Church. Pictured are, from left, hostesses Marlow McCullough, Penny Akers and Jeanne Gaddis, Aline and Matthew, and hostesses Suellen Shaw and Ann DeSpain. Not pictured is hostess Jennifer Tinnell. Aline is the daughter of Abigail Lemons of Belahorizante, Brazil. Matthew is the son of Dr. Jim and Nevalyn Moore of Campbellsville. They were married Dec. 27 at Campbellsville Baptist and are making their home in Euless, Texas.

  • Taylor County Girl Scout Troop 222 members earn Bronze Award

    Junior Girl Scout members of Troop 222 recently completed all requirements to earn their Bronze Award.

    As their project, Rylee Beard, Samantha Clark, Meredith Johnson and Brittany Rose chose to write and shoot a 30-second Girl Scout Cookie television commercial, which can be used throughout the state of Kentucky during cookie sales events.

    The commercial is currently airing on local Channel TV 4 and will be posted on the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana Facebook page and can be viewed at www.kyanags.org.

  • Simmone family seeking momentos from area

    The late Dr. Wallace R. Simmone of Hapeville, Ga. once served as pastor of South Campbellsville Baptist Church.

    Simmone also pastured at Robinson Creek Baptist, Palestine Baptist and Good Hope Baptist, all in Taylor County, and Plum Point Baptist in Adair County.

    Simmone and his wife Frances left Taylor County to return to Georgia in the mid 1950s and eventually retired from the ministry there.

    Simmone died on Jan. 29, 2008.

  • Stone-Keltner

    Sarah-Kathryn Stone and Brandon K. Keltner exchanged wedding vows on June 21, 2008, at Scottsville Baptist Church in Scottsville, Ky.

    The Rev. Paul Dicken and Dr. David Blair performed the double-ring ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Frank Stone of Scottsville. Her grandparents are Annice Stone of Scottsville, Sarah Graves and William C. Smila of Glasgow and the late Frank B. Stone and Jack Douglas Alexander.

  • Sowders Kids Corner

    Trace Michael Sowders, born Oct. 21, 2008, is the son of Rebecca Newton and Chris Sowders. His grandparents are Michael and Linda Newton of Campbellsville and James and Joyce Sowders of Louisville. Great-grandparent is Doris Jean Newton of Campbellsville. He also has a big sister, Kelcey Sowders.

  • Rotary Club presents Boy Scout Troop 154 with check

    Campbellsville Rotary Club recently presented Boy Scout Troop 154 with a check for $500. Pictured are, from left, Gary Smith and Mike Smith, leaders of Troop 154, and Joe Walters, president of the Rotary Club. The Campbellsville Rotary Club continues to support the community through giving, providing scholarships, community beautification projects and hearing aids.

  • Underwood donates to Locks of Love

    Kacie Renae Underwood, 7, recently donated two 10-inch ponytails to Locks of Love. Locks of Love is a nonprofit organization that provides donated hair to children with medical hair loss. Underwood is the daughter of Brett and Robin Underwood. Her grandparents are Mary Ann Underwood, James "Pug" Settles and the late Charles Underwood and Sandra Settles.

  • Cave represents Jessamine County in Kentucky Junior Miss

    Meredith Leigh Cave represented Jessamine County in the Kentucky Junior Miss program over the weekend. A senior at Lexington Christian Academy, she is the daughter of Stan and Carol Cave, formerly of Campbellsville. Cave performed a vocal solo - "Diva's Lament" by John Du Prez - as her talent presentation. Her grandparents are Sonny and Lula Mae Cave and Bill and Betty McGuffey, all of Campbellsville.

  • 'What's Cooking Neighbor?'

    Girl Scout Troop 1726 members recently taped an episode of the "What's Cooking Neighbor Show" with Ed McGuire featuring recipes containing Girl Scout Cookies. Pictured are, from left, front: Molly Sullivan and Megan Januski. Back: Mallory Haley, Ivy Neal and Shandi Russell.

  • Birth Announcements

    Patrick and Jamie Elmore of Shepherdsville announce the birth of twin daughters, Audrey Brianne and Madison Elaine, on Friday, Oct. 31 at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville. Audrey, born at 6:39 p.m., weighed 4 pounds, 10 ounces and was 18 inches long. Madison, born at 6:47 p.m., weighed 5 pounds, 14 ounces and was 18 inches long.

    Grandparents are William and Jeanette Elmore of Campbellsville and J.C. and Judy Mings of Brooks, Ky.
