  • Cox, Scott honored with wedding shower

     

    A miscellaneous wedding shower was given for Amory Cox on May 20 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Owensboro.

    Cox married Trevor Scott on Saturday, Sept. 22.

    Pictured are Trevor and Amory, Donna Scott, the mother of the groom, Lorraine Bowman, Dot Conklin and Vicki Newton.

    The couple will live in Nashville.

  • Birth Announcements for 9-27

    Chelsea Gray of Campbellsville and Zachary Young of Louisville announce the birth of a son, Zyron Allan Young, at 1:14 p.m. on Sept. 2 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. He weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was 19.75 inches long.

    Grandparents are Billy and Leetta Dial and Chris Gray of Campbellsville and Myron Young of Greensburg.

    Great-grandparents are Pine Lee Anderson of Greensburg and Robert and Jeanne Lentz and Joe and Ruth Gray, all of Campbellsville.

  • Red Hat group hears Christian music

     

    Red Hat group members gathered for a picnic recently and Campbellsville resident Sparky Taylor sang Christian music.

  • Hamiltons honored with wedding shower

     

    Shawn and Shelley Bowen Hamilton of Campbellsville were recently honored with a baby shower.

    From left are paternal great-grandmother Bernice Bowen, paternal grandmother Martina Hamilton, Shawn, Shelley, maternal grandmother April Bowen and maternal great-grandmother Laverne Kennon.

    The Hamiltons were expecting their baby on Sept. 20.

  • Locals win at state fair

    Many Taylor County residents won awards at this year's Kentucky State Fair.

    Gabriel Sharp won grand champion for crops in the 4-H competition and Mariah Corbin was named grand champion in honey.

    Ten 4-H members participated in the state's 4-H country ham contest. More than 625 teens from across the state participated.

    Winifred Cheuvront and Zach Kidd tied for fourth place for ham in the non-smoked category.

    Rachel Hinton won first place in the non-smoked speech category.

  • Resident wins state fair award for painting

     

    Campbellsville resident Carolyn Ogden recently won an award for a painting she entered in a competition at the Kentucky State Fair. The Whip Mix Corp. sponsors a purchase award for a watercolor painting each year.

    Ogden's painting was entitled "Washday in April." It is of a photograph of her grandmother, Mary Eva Phillips Wise, taken in the 1940s.

    Ogden has two sons, Todd Parker of Louisville and Kent Parker of Campbellsville, and four grandchildren. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2005.

  • Cox wins at state fair

     

    Taylor County resident Tiffany Cox recently competed at the Kentucky State Fair and took home several awards.

    She entered the egg show competition and won first place in the brown class, first and second place in the pastel class and best dozen overall.

  • Local wins at state fair

     

    Tanner Martin, at right, with Johnson Salers Farm, won Kentucky Grand Champion Salers Heifer with Miss Cowgirl at the 2012 Kentucky State Fair.

    Pictured with Martin are his parents, Josh and Chasity Johnson, sisters Shelby and Ashton and brother Jacob.

    He is the grandson of Susan Seaborne of Campbellsville.

  • Porter wins at state fair

     

    Matthew Porter of Campbellsville, the son of Barry and Michelle Porter of Campbellsville, won seven first-place ribbons at the Kentucky State Fair with his miniature horses in open roadster, AOTE and single pressure driving classes.

  • Local shows heifer calf at state fair

     

    Gabriel Sharp of Campbellsville showed her heifer chain calf, named Country Girl, at the Kentucky State Fair.

    The class was senior female A, born Jan. 1 through Dec. 21, 2010. Sharp placed third in the class.
