  • Rakel Kids Corner

    Karlee Brynn Rakel is the 4-year-old daughter of Eddie and Jaclyn Rakel of Campbellsville. Her grandparents are Scott and Marilyn Martin of Campbellsville and Millie and Jeff Coahran of Edinburgh, Ind. Her great-grandparents are Oleda Curry, Howard and Alice Martin, all of Campbellsville, Brad and Louise Miller of Columbia and the late Howard Curry.

  • Birth Announcements

    Michael and Melissa Mitchell of Campbellsville announce the birth of a son, Peyton William Glenn E., at 7:22 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. He weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.

    Grandparents are Billy and Sissy Mattingly and Doug and Sandy Mitchell, all of Campbellsville.

    Great-grandparents are Bill and Gladys Mattingly and Elbert and Jewell Puyear, all of Campbellsville, Almeda Mitchell of Chaplin, Ky., and the late Edna Evelyn Mattingly and Ernest Mitchell.

  • Kocian honored with baby shower

    Sue Chandler Kocian was honored with a baby shower on May 3 at the home of Rhonda Smith. Back: Jill Chandler, maternal grandmother; and Kim Mills, hostess. Sue and her husband Brad are the parents of a daughter born on March 25.

  • England celebrates 30th birthday

    Kathy England celebrated her 30th birthday with family and friends at the home of her mother, Helen Janes, on Saturday, May 9.

  • England-Worthington

    Laryessa Dawn England and Brent Robert Worthington, both of Crofton, Md., will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, May 30.

    England is the daughter of Larry and Betty Sue England of Campbellsville. Her grandparents are Herbert and Elizabeth England of Campbellsville and the late Donald and Dica McGlocklin.

    She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a master's degree in dietetic administration. She is employed as a clinical dietitian at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, Md.

  • Haddock celebrates seventh birthday

    April Haddock, front, third from left, celebrated her seventh birthday with friends and family at her home with an Easter egg hunt on April 12. She is the daughter of Jennifer Davis and the stepdaughter of Chris Davis.

  • Chicago Civil War Round Table visits Tebbs Bend Battlefield

    Two coach buses carrying 82 members of the Chicago Civil War Round Table visited Tebbs Bend Battlefield on Saturday, April 25.

    Led by Ed Bearss, National Park Service Historian Emeritus, and A. Wilson Greene, director of Pamplin Civil War Park south of Richmond, Va., the group toured Kentucky Civil War sites for four days.

    Tebbs Bend was included with the major Civil War Kentucky sites of Perryville, Munfordville, Richmond, Wildcat Mountain, Mill Springs and Lincoln's Birthplace.

  • Grandparents serve as their children serve

    Two young girls will be spending more time in Campbellsville in the coming year as their parents serve their country during the U.S. War in Iraq.

    Erica, 4, and Jessica, 9, are the daughters of Sgt. 1st Class Quantrell Lamont Washington and his wife Capt. Bridget Washington.

    Until recently, the Washington family had been stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.

  • Couples graduate from childbirth classes

    Four couples graduated from the prenatal and childbirth classes taught at Taylor Regional Hospital in April. The classes are taught on Tuesdays at the hospital's meeting room. The five-week series is free to anyone delivering at TRH. The class is taught by Jenny Dobson, RN, MSN, CLC, CCE. Pictured are Chasity and Diblai Velazquez, Bradfordsville; Mary Brower and Thomas Downs, Campbellsville; Tiffany Coulter and Charles Goodin, Lebanon; and Tiffany and Austin Tedder, Campbellsville.

  • Swafford

    Donald and Norma Jean Berry Swafford will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, May 24.

    The Swaffords were married on May 15, 1959, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church by the Rev. V.A. Jones. Their attendants were the late James and Avis Christie.

    They have two children, Walter Swafford and his wife, Wanda, and Donna Swafford, all of Campbellsville. The Swaffords also have three grandchildren, Chase Swafford, Spencer Swafford and Reece Swafford, all of Campbellsville.
