  • TRH presents service awards to auxiliary volunteers

     

    Taylor Regional Hospital auxiliary volunteers had their annual awards luncheon on Dec. 2.

    With 47 workers, the auxiliary has given 9,432.25 volunteer hours this year to help TRH by working at the information desk, surgery department, emergency department, radiology department, cancer center, cafeteria, greeter and gift shop.

    The auxiliary also collected canned food items to be donated to the local food pantry as part of their service to the community.

  • Friends of Taylor County Public Library now a nonprofit

     

    Friends of Taylor County Public Library recently completed its application to become a nonprofit group. And, because the process is now complete, the group recently received $400 in reimbursement for the application fee.

    Mary Lynn Collins, president of the Friends of the Kentucky Libraries Association, made the presentation at the last Friends of the Taylor County Public Library meeting.

    The Friends group will meet again on Thursday, Jan. 15, at 5:30 p.m. at the library. It is open to the public.

  • Amazon donates food to Green River Ministries

     

    Amazon Fulfillment Center recently donated food to feed 60 families this holiday season to Green River Ministries.

  • Grandview raises $1,700 for local toy drives

     

    The Grandview recently raised $1,700 for local toy drives. Each year, the nursing and rehabilitation center hosts a Hall of Trees event.

    Local businesses donate items for an auction and decorate Christmas trees for display at the center.

    Residents toured the center on Dec. 13 and bought chances on the auction items.

    In all, more than $1,700 was raised and divided evenly between the Toys for Tots and Toys for Kids efforts.

  • Emericks celebrate 55th wedding anniversary

     

    Roger and Kay Emerick of Campbellsville celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last week in Florida.

    The Emericks went to Florida to watch their granddaughter perform at Epcot with the Taylor County High School Show Choir. They celebrated by dining at Disney's Sarasota Resort Turf Club Bar and Grill with family.

    The Emericks were married on Dec. 19, 1959.

  • Birth Announcements for December 18

    Sarah Megan and John Anthony Wilcher of Campbellsville announce the birth of a son, Jase Anthony Wilcher, at 8:09 a.m. on Dec. 1 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. He weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

    Grandparents are Greg and Gayle Whitley and Roger and Deborah Bast of Campbellsville.

    Great-grandparents are Korine Whitley of Campbellsville and the late William "Buster" and Elizabeth Allen, Howard Whitley, Carl and Irene Wilcher, Marvin Bast and Frances Murphy.

  • More than $18,000 raised during radiothon

     

    More than $18,000 was raised during this year's Q-104 Toys for Tots Radiothon.

    Representatives from Murakami raised a total of $6,500 through various fundraisers, including luncheons, a silent auction and more.

  • Couples graduate from prenatal class

     

    Three couples graduated from the prenatal and childbirth classes taught at Taylor Regional Hospital in December. They are Cody and Morgan Wills, Tim and Gana Hooker and Ian and Kendra Glasscock, all of Campbellsville.

    Classes are taught on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Taylor Regional Hospital's meeting room.

    Classes are free to anyone delivering at TRH. Nicole Collins, RN, CCE, teaches the classes.

  • Marcums win basket weaving awards

     

    Elizabeth Marcum, daughter of Daniel and Laura Milby Marcum of Greensburg, won second place in the basket weaving category in her age division at the Kentucky State Fair.

    Janet Marcum, her grandmother, of Magnolia, who is married to Harold Marcum, taught Elizabeth and her sister, Alayna, to weave baskets.

    Alayna won first place at the Hart County Fair in her age division.

    The Marcums are also the granddaughters of Tom and Phyllis Milby of Campbellsville.

  • Loys to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

     

    Deloris Barnett Loy and Buddy Loy of Campbellsville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday.

    The Loys were married Dec. 19, 1964, in Campbellsville.

    Their children are Scot and Beth Cochran and Leslie and Donna Cave of Campbellsville. Their grandchildren are Katie Cave, Amber Cave, Tori Cochran and Emili Cochran, all of Campbellsville.

    Beth Cochran and Donna Cave will host a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. at Robinson Creek Baptist Church's youth building. All family and friends are invited to attend.
