    Forest and Altha Bland of Campbellsville recently celebrated 80 years of togetherness.

    Bailee Gowin celebrated her sixth birthday on Jan. 27 with a bowling party and a sleepover.

    Sgt. Jeremy Scott Carter, 23, of Campbellsville, is serving in the United States Marines. He is stationed at Camp Lejune, N.C.

    Jim and Gladys Roberts celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Jan. 17.

    Kevin Sheilley of Team Taylor County will serve as chair of the Taylor County Friends of Scouting campaign.

    Harmony Homemakers met on Jan. 14 at the Taylor County Extension Office with 12 members present.

    Taylor County Public Library and the Central Kentucky Arts Series are co-hosting an exhibit on the music and background of the American spiritual.

    Jane Wheatley, who has been interim hospital CEO on several occasions, has been named to the position permanently.

    Despite freezing temperatures and snow, Taylor County's celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday went on this weekend. More than 50 people braved the icy winds on Sunday afternoon to participate in the annual march sponsored by the Black Ministerial Alliance. About 20 cars followed the walkers.

    Odell and Charlotte Callahan will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday.

    Summer Ray Roberts and Joshua Cory Tucker exchanged wedding vows on June 1, 2002, at the home of the bride's parents.

    John Holmes, a sophomore at University of Kentucky, captured the 77th annual New Year's Invitational Amateur Tournament at St. Petersburg (Fla.) Country Club on Jan. 2-5.

    Malcolm and Elizabeth Newton will celebrate their 70th anniversary on Monday, Jan. 13.

    Lori and Darrell Loy of Jamestown are the parents of the first baby of the new year born at Taylor County Hospital.

    Lauren MacKenzie Barnes celebrated her first birthday with family and friends on Dec. 15.

    St. Mark Methodist Church's junior youth donated toys to the fire department during its Christmas Toys for Kids campaign.

    Dec. 26, 2002

    Clay Bell of Campbellsville has been selected for membership in the National Society of High School Scholars.

    Modern Day Homemakers met Thursday, Dec. 12, at the home of Donna Kerr for their meeting and Christmas dinner.

    Willard "Bud" Dudgeon, 90, of Campbellsville, died on Wednesday, Dec. 18 in Elizabethtown.

    Tunes for Tots collected $1,812.70 for the local toy drive.

    Dec. 19, 2002

    William A. and Barbara Hughes Henderson of Campbellsville celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Dec. 15.

    Marine Corps Pvt. Joshua Washington recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Paris Island, S.C.

    Campbellsville Middle School students worked again this year in cooperation with Campbellsville/Taylor County fire and rescue departments to provide toys for local children.

    With angel trees, bell ringers, a food pantry and toy drives, there are many opportunities for residents to help others this Christmas. While there has been some worry that annual holiday giving will be down around the nation, local charities report that Campbellsville and Taylor County residents are giving as much or more as they did last year.

    Margaret Sapp, 90, of Lincoln Avenue in Campbellsville, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Campbellsville.

    Phil Harmon was recognized at the spring awards banquet sponsored by the Kentucky Society of Public Accountants honoring new CPAs and successful candidates from the November 2001 CPA examination.

    Taylor County Republican Women donated $100 to the local food pantry.

    Campbellsville High School Concert Band and Chorus will present concerts at Campbellsville University Gosser Fine Arts Center at 7 p.m.

    Nov. 28, 2002

    For the 10th year, Bethel First Presbyterian Church is hosting its traditional Thanksgiving dinner. About 50 volunteers from all over the community came together to help.

    Jerry Marr, 57, of Gowdy Street in Campbellsville, died on Friday, Nov. 22, in Louisville.

    Raymond and Exie Burress celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 15.
