    With angel trees, bell ringers, a food pantry and toy drives, there are many opportunities for residents to help others this Christmas. While there has been some worry that annual holiday giving will be down around the nation, local charities report that Campbellsville and Taylor County residents are giving as much or more as they did last year.

    Margaret Sapp, 90, of Lincoln Avenue in Campbellsville, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Campbellsville.

    Phil Harmon was recognized at the spring awards banquet sponsored by the Kentucky Society of Public Accountants honoring new CPAs and successful candidates from the November 2001 CPA examination.

    Taylor County Republican Women donated $100 to the local food pantry.

    Campbellsville High School Concert Band and Chorus will present concerts at Campbellsville University Gosser Fine Arts Center at 7 p.m.

    Nov. 28, 2002

    For the 10th year, Bethel First Presbyterian Church is hosting its traditional Thanksgiving dinner. About 50 volunteers from all over the community came together to help.

    Jerry Marr, 57, of Gowdy Street in Campbellsville, died on Friday, Nov. 22, in Louisville.

    Raymond and Exie Burress celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 15.

    Neil and Jaclyn Dabney of Campbellsville announce the birth of a son, Hayden Nicholas, on Monday, May 6, at 8:49 a.m. at Norton Hospital in Louisville.

    Wallace and Clara Sapp of Campbellsville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Thursday, Oct. 17.

    Mannsville Homemakers met on Thursday, Nov. 14, at the home of Dronda Anderson with 16 present.

    Wesley Miller Spires Burton celebrated his first birthday at his home.

    Campbellsville and Taylor County took a few moments on Monday afternoon to honor its veterans and those serving in the military.

    Shelby Netherland celebrated her sixth birthday with a Halloween party.

    Kentucky's last known World War I veteran died on Oct. 31 at 104. Elwyn Coffman of Fulton enlisted in the United States Army Nov. 22, 1917.

    Paul H. Raley, 81, of Stanford Lane in Campbellsville, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, in Elizabethtown.

    Brenda Allen, city clerk, beat 25-year Councilman Al Hardy by 102 votes and will move no more than 20 feet by January to assume her new leadership role as mayor.

    Wendell R. Cox, 60, of Campbellsville, died on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Taylor County Hospital in Campbellsville after an illness.

    Marine Corps Pvt. Caleb Nathaniel Foster recently completed 12 weeks of basic military training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C.

    Crisis Relief Center volunteers were recognized last week for their dedication to meeting the basic needs of Taylor Countians.

    Golda DeSpain, 85, of McClelland Court in Campbellsville, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, in Lebanon.

    Cordie Chappell, 68, of Sunset Drive in Campbellsville, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, in Campbellsville.

    Taylor County High School sophomore Shane O'Banion, 15, captured two championships at the Pepsi Kentucky State Motocross Championships at Daniel Boone Motocross Park in London on Sept. 28.

    Thomas H. Hazzard of Campbellsville completed a degree at Western Kentucky University in August 2002. He received a Master of Arts in education.

    The Taylor County Marching Cardinals had the second highest score in the KMEA Class A West Quarter finals on Saturday at Daviess County High School in Owensboro.

    Shelby Bradley will celebrate her 6th birthday on Oct. 25.

    A group of ladies at Jackson Tower donated their time to assist in completing tasks for the Leo Bear project.

    Agatha Aline Skaggs, 80, of Bell Avenue in Campbellsville, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Green Hill Manor Nursing Home.
