    When Ray Holt woke up at his home in Mannsville on the morning of April 3, 1974, he had no idea he would lose his service station and feed mill that same day. He also had no idea that he would experience a storm that is still talked about 30 years later. According to a website devoted to the tornados of April 3, 1974, between 4:40 p.m. and midnight on April 3, at least 26 vicious tornados struck Kentucky, in the worst storm disaster in the state's history.

    The Homeplace on Green River will celebrate the history of American food with a national exhibit at its grand opening in July.

    William "Buddy" and Gladys Stayton will celebrate their 57th wedding anniversary on Saturday, April 3.

    Ashley Noe of Campbellsville has been selected as a summer intern in U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell's Washington, D.C. office.

    Chester Humphress will be honored with a 90th birthday celebration on Saturday, March 27.

    Sierra DeMurray celebrated her sixth birthday on Jan. 30 at her home. Sierra also has a sister, Megan Perkins.

    James Roberts, a regional reporter for the Central Kentucky News-Journal and Springfield Sun for the past four years, will soon become a full-time staff writer in Campbellsville.

    March 11, 2004

    Calvin Chaney, financial services officer for Farm Credit Services of Mid-America in Campbellsville, was recently recognized for completing 25 years with his employer.

    Zack McFall of Campbellsville donated books to the Ladybug Reading Fund at Taylor Regional Hospital in February.

    Nathan Gaddis, formerly of Campbellsville, is a cast member of GODSPELL, which is being presented at his church in Franklin, Tenn.

    Robert Allen and Peggy Sublett will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary with a renewal of their vows on Sunday, March 14.

    Saved By Grace will be in concert at Mannsville Christian Church on Sunday when the church celebrates its 46th anniversary.

    Community Trust Bank Inc. has made a $1,025 donation to Habitat for Humanity.

    Rosemary Shofner, RN with Family Home Health Care Inc., was recognized as employee of the month for January.

    Feb. 26, 2004

    Nell Smith celebrated her 80th birthday on Feb. 5 in Naples, Fla., with 47 friends and relatives.

    Melwood H. and Anna E. Brown Robinson celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Feb. 22.

    Army Pvt. Jacob T. Kingdollar has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

    Campbellsville University has achieved a new spring enrollment record of 1,932, which is an overall increase of 13 percent from last spring.

    Feb. 19, 2004

    George Williams of Campbellsville will celebrate his 80th birthday this year on Leap Day, Feb. 29.

    Pfc. Shannon McClellan, who has been stationed in Iraq since March 2003, will soon be visiting his family in Campbellsville.

    The March of Dimes is gearing up for its annual Walk America event, scheduled this year for Saturday, May 15.

    Feb. 12, 2004

    Campbellsville is finally getting its long-awaited Big Lots store.

    Holiday Inn Express, 102 Plantation Drive, opened for business Friday, Jan. 3.

    Campbellsville Middle School has added a new archery program. Staff members were trained last fall to begin using archery during the school day and after school in the Eagle Express program.

    Feb. 5, 2004

    Sam and Phyllis Harrison of Elk Horn will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Feb. 7, at Elk Horn Baptist Church.

    Amy Walters was honored with a bridal shower recently at Lowell Avenue Baptist Church. Amy will marry Bill Fox on Valentine's Day in Charleston, S.C.

    Roger Dale Witham Jr. celebrated his fifth birthday on Jan. 16 with friends at Campbellsville Christian Church's school.

    Jan. 29, 2004

    Heather Marie Hastings, a freshman at University of Kentucky, has earned a 4.0 grade point average for the fall 2003 semester.

    The Taylor County Band program had its annual chili supper and Christmas concert on Dec. 4 in the gym at Taylor County Middle School.

    Becky McCorvey has been named assistant production supervisor at the Central Kentucky News-Journal.

    Herbert England celebrated his 80th birthday on Jan. 18 with his family and friends.
