    Sept. 12, 2002

    A bird found at Campbellsville Country Club has tested positive for West Nile Virus.

    Will and Geri Stephens will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 5 with a recommitment wedding ceremony at 2 p.m.

    Pvt. William Thomas Hoy has finished his basic training for the National Guard in Fort Leonardwood, Mo.

    Taylor County High School Marching Band took third place at the Shelby County Showcase of Bands on Saturday.

    Angela Carol Thompson and Wade Andy Smith Jr. announce their forthcoming marriage on Friday, Sept. 6, 2002.

    Brianna Madison Hall celebrated her third birthday with friends on Aug. 29 at Little People Day Care.

    Terry Rooker has joined Wave Length, 815 W. Main St., as a beautician. She has four years' experience.

    Coach Brian Meier's Taylor County Lady Cardinals posted victories in their five varsity soccer matches this fall.

    Aug. 29, 2002

    U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, helped Campbellsville University officials Tuesday as they officially dedicated a $2.5 million Technology Training center. McConnell, who was instrumental in securing funding for the facility, served as keynote speaker for the ceremony.

    Temple Blakeman Kirtley, 85, of Sharon Drive in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, in Campbellsville.

    Savannah Bryant, participant No. 1 in the Taylor County Junior Miss program, was named 2003 Taylor County Junior Miss.

    Donna Cox, 53 of Larkspur Lane in Campbellsville, died on Sunday, Aug. 18, in Louisville.

    Ken Jones Sr., 63, of Red Fern Road in Campbellsville, died on Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, in Louisville.

    Jill Carlson, daughter of Walt and Ann Gorin of Greensburg, will be introducing her new CD "Down the Road" on Big Dawg radio on Aug. 22.

    In honor of her 83rd birthday, Minnie Pearl Maddox was honored by her family and friends with a reunion and celebration.

    Randall and Judy Harris recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.

    The Peterson reunion was at Camp Acton on Sunday, July 28, with the 54 who attended joining in a potluck meal.

    Dr. Eugene H. Shively recently received the Physician's Recognition Award.

    The one-year anniversary of the September terrorist attacks on America is just a few weeks away. Lowell Avenue Baptist Church will have a special remembrance service on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m.

    Paul Bodenhamer II and Shannon Wathen will fill vacancies in the cross country and softball programs, respectively, at Campbellsville University.

    Former professional basketball player and college basketball coach Clem Haskins, who is a Campbellsville resident, signed copies of his book "Clem Haskins: Breaking Barriers," at Walmart in October 1997.

    On Saturday, Aug. 17, nine of Taylor County's most outstanding high school senior girls will compete for the title of Taylor County Junior Miss 2003.

    Lydia Ann Cave celebrated her fifth birthday with friends at Kiddieland Day Care on July 23.

    John Holmes won the Championship Flight by eight shots to capture the Campbellsville Country Club Men's Club Tournament over the weekend.
