    Anthony Farris, a teacher at Campbellsville Elementary School, has been named the winner of Walmart's Teacher of the Year award.

    Wayne Wills, manager and co-owner of Holiday Inn Express, recently achieved the No. 1 rating in the world for customer satisfaction for Holiday Inn Express hotels.

    The Giles Society, a nonprofit organization, presented the seventh annual Janice Holt Giles book award to Jasma Mendez, a junior at Campbellsville High School.

    Heather Hastings and Heidi Hastings have been named to the dean's list at the University of Kentucky for the spring semester.

    Crystal Anderson has joined the Central Kentucky News-Journal as a correspondent photographer.

    Susan Horn Meacham was chosen as the 2004 Teacher of the Year for Hopkins County School System. She is the daughter of Morris and Jane Horn of Campbellsville.

    Donna Rae Dudgeon graduated Saturday, May 8, from the University of Louisville during commencement and convocation ceremonies at the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center. Dudgeon earned a Master of Science degree in human resource education.

    Tracy Thornton graduated from Bowling Green Technical College's Glasgow campus in December, completing her requirements for a practical nurse diploma.

    Billy Fudge and others at The Homeplace on Green River will try to restore the American Chestnut tree back into Kentucky forests with a planting on Saturday.

    Barbara Dabney, Central Kentucky News-Journal's Taylor County Woman of the Year, spoke to seniors at Taylor County Senior Citizens Center last Friday in honor of Mother's Day.

    Jaime Leigh Page and Derick Edmon Fair will exchange wedding vows on May 22.

    Alice Lee, 81, of Lakeview Drive in Campbellsville, died on Monday, May 3, 3004, in Campbellsville.

    On Tuesday night, Ralph Tesseneer was named Campbellsville/Taylor County Chamber of Commerce Everette Lee Citizen of the Year by virtue of votes cast by chamber investors.

    Shanon Camille Mardis and Jonathan Keith O'Banion, both of Campbellsville, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, May 15.

    Campbellsville Eagles baseball team won three games to capture the Fifth Region All "A" Classic over the weekend in Bardstown.

    A total of 87 entries signed in for the 2004 season opener at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown on Saturday and Tim Tungate of Campbellsville took top honors in the 25-lap late model feature event.

    Beth Clark has been named a United States National Collegiate Award winner in psychology.

    Mayor Brenda Allen announced Tuesday that Bill Cassell has resigned as police chief for medical reasons and Kenneth L. Adams has been appointed in his place.

    A former Campbellsville High School teacher who now teaches at Washington County, Sarah Raikes will be among a group of teachers who will visit several locations in Japan, including cities in Toyota City, Kyota and Tokyo, the capital of Japan.

    At least 12 families were without a home after a fire Tuesday morning severely damaged the Central Kentucky Motor Lodge and Creek Side Restaurant.

    Stephanie Marie Penick and Tracy Shannon Fuson exchanged wedding vows on Saturday, Feb. 14, at Faith Congregational Methodist Church in Dowelltown, Tenn.

    Earl Cox celebrated his 95th birthday on March 18.

    Gabrielle Roberts was named to the dean's list at Furman University for the winter term.
