  • Men's cooking class begins March 20

    The Taylor County Cooperative Extension Service will offer a men's monthly cooking class beginning on Tuesday, March 20, at 6 p.m. at the extension office. Each class costs $5 per person.

    Pre-registration is due by Friday, March 16, by calling 465-4511.

  • Merritt interview to air on 'Dialogue on Public Issues'

     

    Jonathan Merritt, faith and culture writer and author of "Green Like God: Unlocking the Divine Plan for Our Planet," was recently interviewed on Campbellsville University's WLCU-TV its "Dialogue on Public Issues" show.

    CU's John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president of CU, did the interview.

    The show will air Monday, March 12, Tuesday, March 13, and Wednesday, March 14, at 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. and Thursday, March 15, and Friday, March 16, at 8 p.m.

  • World Day of Prayer service rescheduled

    The World Day of Prayer is an annual worldwide prayer service for all Christian women on the first Friday of March.

    An event was planned for Friday, March 2, but has been rescheduled to Friday, March 16, because of inclement weather. The event will begin at 7 p.m. at Bethel First Presbyterian Church.

    World Day of Prayer services begin in the Pacific at sunrise and continue around the globe.

    This year, the women of Malaysia have chosen the theme "Let Justice Prevail."

  • Youth fest planned for March 16-18

    A community youth fest has been planned for March 16-18.

    On Friday, March 16, the event will be at Bethlehem Baptist Church at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Billy Curie.

    On Saturday, March 17, the fest will be at Greensburg Baptist Church at 7 p.m. and Elk Horn Baptist Church pastor Brian Rafferty will speak.

    On Sunday, March 18, events will move to Green County Middle School at 6 p.m. Rafferty will also speak there.

  • CU to host Baptist Heritage Series

    Campbellsville University will host Dr. J. Bradley Creed as part of its annual Baptist Heritage Series on Monday, March 19, at 7 p.m. in the banquet hall of the Badgett Academic Support Center.

    The topic of the lecture is "A Baptist Voter's Guide to the 2012 Election: Lessons from the Past." The event is free and open to the public.

  • Emmy-winning journalist to speak at CU

    David Brody, chief political correspondent for CBN News, will be speaking at Campbellsville University's Kentucky Heartland Institute on Public Policy's event Tuesday, March 20, in the afternoon and also at chapel the next morning.

    Brody, who is an Emmy-winning veteran news journalist, will speak at KHIPP at 5 p.m. March 20 in the banquet hall of the Badgett Academic Support Center and at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, in Ransdell Chapel.

    During Red Cross Month, the American Red Cross invites residents to join in supporting the community by giving blood, getting trained or volunteering. Supporters enable the Red Cross to continue to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies, both here at home and around the world.

  • Resident to perform organ recital

    Maria LeRose-Herndon of Campbellsville will present a guest noon organ recital on Tuesday, March 13, at 12:20 p.m. in Campbellsville University's Ransdell Chapel.

    She is the wife of the Rev. William Herndon, pastor of St. Mark's United Methodist Church on Meader Street in Campbellsville.

    She will be performing works by J.S. Bach and William Mathias. The concert is free and open to the public.

  • TCES students to present 'The Jungle Book Kids'

    Cardinal Station, the 21st Community Learning Center at Taylor County Elementary School, will present Disney's "The Jungle Book Kids" on March 16-18.

    Performances will be Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Russ Mobley Theater on the Campbellsville University campus.

    Tickets are available for $3 in advance by calling Jennifer Clifford at 465-5691. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $5.

  • Tri-County equine courses scheduled

    A four-part series of courses has been scheduled for current and prospective horse owners in and around Taylor County.

    The first course was March 6 and discussed facilities.

    The second course will be Tuesday, March 13, at the Adair County Extension Office. Vaccinations and parasites will be discussed.

    The third course will be Tuesday, March 20, at the Green County Extension Office. It will discuss horse shoeing.

    The final course, on Tuesday, March 27, will discuss behavior and equipment at the Taylor County Extension Office.
