  • CU Theater presents "Red"

     

    Campbellsville University Theater presented "Red" on April 26-28.

    "Red" is about a master abstract expressionist, Mark Rothko, who has just landed the biggest commission in the history of modern art, a series of murals for New York's famed Four Seasons Restaurant.

    In the two years that follow, Rothko works feverishly with his young assistant, Ken, in his studio on the Bowery.

  • Why garden?

     

    Dr. Rick Durham, a horticulture specialist with the University of Kentucky, presented a gardening class at the Taylor County Extension Office on Tuesday, April 24.

    About 25 people attended and learned how to plan a home vegetable garden.

    They also learned about gardening in small places, different types of vegetables and why people garden.

  • Library hosts computer classes

     

    Taylor County Public Library is offering free classes for anyone who would like to learn how to use a computer.

    A class focusing on how to use Microsoft Word was offered April 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. to noon.

    And on April 26, the library offered a typing class from 2 to 4 p.m. For more information, call 465-2562.

  • County to help residents find lost ‘treasure’

    The date is set for the county to help residents find "lost" money.

    At Taylor County Fiscal Court's March meeting, magistrates voted to participate in Kentucky State Treasurer Todd Hollenbach's unclaimed property Treasure Finders program.

  • July Fourth celebration booth rentals now available

    Booth rentals are now available for the annual Campbellsville/Taylor County Fourth of July Celebration.

    Booths will be 10x12 and setup will be from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4.

    Exhibitors can also set up at Miller Park for the annual fireworks show from 5 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4. To set up at Miller Park, there is an additional $50 fee. Vendors must have set up a booth on Main Street to set up at Miller Park.

  • CU to host semester's final noon organ recital

    The Campbellsville University School of Music will host its final concert in the Noon Organ Recital Series on Tuesday, April 17, at 12:20 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel.

    The public is invited to attend free of charge.

    The concert will feature Dr. Wesley Roberts, CU professor of music, performing on the Farrand and Votey pipe organ in the Ransdell Chapel.

  • Healthy Babies workshop is April 17

    Adanta Regional Prevention Center KIDS NOW will host a Health Babies workshop at the Taylor County Health Department on Tuesday, April 17, from 2 to 4 p.m.

    The event is for those who are expecting and mothers with children younger than 3 months old.

    Free baby items will be given away. Only first time attendees are eligible.

  • Leadership students interview to air on 'Dialogue on Public Issues'

     

    Campbellsville University students Joseph Yates and Emily Shultz, who attended the National Christian Student Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., were recently interviewed on Campbellsville University's "Dialogue on Public Issues" show.

    Yates is a senior from Shepherdsville and Shultz is a junior from Mt. Sterling.

    CU's John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president of CU, did the interview.

  • CU to celebrate Earth Day

    Campbellsville University will host an Earth Day ceremony on Monday, April 16, at 10 a.m. in the Log Cabin park area on campus, at the corner of North Columbia Avenue and University Drive.

    The event is free and open to the public.

    Earth Day is an international environmental event to mark the efforts of protecting the biodiversity on planet Earth.

  • Lois Jane to speak at ministry event

    Campbellsville Baptist Church will host Lois Jane on Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a "Telling Your Story" women's ministry event.

    Tickets are on sale now and cost $10 each, which includes lunch. The deadline to order tickets is Tuesday, April 17.
