  • CU to host two-piano concert

    Eugene and Elisabeth Pridonoff will perform a two-piano concert Thursday, Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. in the Gheens Recital Hall of the Gosser Fine Arts Center on the Campbellsville University campus.

    The Pridonoffs are duo-in-residence and professors of piano at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music.

    They will be performing works by Poulenc, Stravinsky, Ravel and Liszt. The two will also give a master class for university piano students Friday, Jan. 25 from 10 a.m. to noon in The Gheens Recital Hall.

    The public is invited to both events.

  • CU play auditions are Jan. 22-23

    Campbellsville University's Department of Theater will have auditions for the play "The Taming of the Shrew" by William Shakespeare on Jan. 22-23 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the University Theater.

    Call backs will be Thursday, Jan. 24, and those who get a part in the play are to be available Saturday, Jan. 26 for a read-through of the play.

    Starr Garrett, director of theater, said those wanting to audition are asked to call the theater office or come by the office in the Alumni Building to sign up for an audition time. The phone number is 789-5266.

  • Pregnancy center announces new office hours

    The Central Kentucky Crisis Pregnancy Center has new office hours. The center, located at 319 E. Maple St., offers confidential services and free pregnancy testing.

    Hours for the center are Monday through Thursday from noon to 5 p.m.

    Co-directors are Tracie Perry and Angie Pace.

    The Central Kentucky Crisis Pregnancy Center seeks to help young women in crisis situations. The Center is a pro-life organization and encourages young women to consider alternatives to abortion.

  • Auditions for musicals are Jan. 17-19

    Stephen Foster Productions will be hosting auditions for summer productions of "Stephen Foster-The Musical," "Annie" and "The Civil War."

    Organizers are seeking adult males and females and boys and girls ages 5 to 15.

    Lead roles, chorus, internships and apprenticeships are available.

    On Thursday, Jan. 17, auditions will be at Kentucky State University's Bradford Hall in the Little Theatre at 6 p.m.

    On Jan. 18, auditions will be at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. beginning at noon.

  • Relay for Life kick off is Jan. 21

    Millions of people have joined the fight against cancer. Many have done so by participating in Relay For Life, the American Cancer Society's team event to fight cancer.

    The event will return to Taylor County on June 6-7. A kick off planned for Monday, Jan. 21 will officially get the new Relay season under way.

    Relay For Life is the largest cancer fundraiser in the nation. Held in more than 4,200 communities nationwide last year, the event brings participants together to raise money for cancer research, education, advocacy and patient support programs.

  • State Junior Miss program is this weekend

    More than $18,000 in scholarship dollars and more than $1 million of in-kind gifts are up for grabs at the 50th anniversary of the Kentucky Junior Miss program.

    The preliminary state competitions will take place on Friday, Jan. 11 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the Singletary Center on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington. Finals will be Saturday at 8 p.m.

    Thirty-seven high school senior girls will compete to represent Kentucky at the national competition in Alabama on June 26-28.

  • CU to host MLK worship service

    The Rev. Gerald Joiner will be the speaker for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Worship Service at Campbellsville University on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel.

    Joiner is pastor of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville, a Campbellsville University alumnus and member of the Church Relations Council at CU.

    The public is invited to the event, which is free.

    The Gospel Explosion Choir, a group of about 40 individuals from Taylor, Adair and Green counties, will be providing the special music.

  • Heart of Kentucky Heritage & Soul Festival is this weekend

    The Heart of Kentucky Heritage & Soul Festival brings the Unlimited band to Lebanon this weekend, along with many other educational and entertaining activities.

    Unlimited has opened for bands such as Midnight Star and the Average White Band and has shared the stage with SOS Band, The Emotions, KC & the Sunshine Band, Nappy Roots, Parliament Funkadellic and Al Green.

  • TCHS to host prom and bridal review

    Taylor County High School's junior class will sponsor a Prom and Bridal Review Style Show on Friday, Jan. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the TCHS gymnasium.

    Cost is $3 for students and $5 for adults.

    There will be more than 100 students modeling the latest prom and bridal fashions.

    Also on site will be vendors from bridal shops, tuxedo rentals, photographers/videographers, flower shops, wedding cakes/caterers, hair/makeup/nail salons, limo services, disc jockeys and more.

  • CU to host spring registration

    Campbellsville University will have its spring 2008 registration on Monday and Tuesday in the Technology Training Center.

    Classes start Wednesday at 8 a.m.

    Monday's registration is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and registration on Tuesday is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    The Offices of Financial Aid and Business Services will be located in the Tech Center.

    An orientation for new students is scheduled Monday, Jan. 14 at 9 a.m. in the Little Auditorium.
