As major cities begin their homeless counts in January, a new novel by a former Campbellsville resident will show the vivid reality of millions of young people with no place to call home. "Anonymity," by national bestselling author Janna McMahan, will detail the daily life of one girl alone on the streets.

McMahan was influenced to write "Anonymity" when she saw a girl whose face was a mask of intricate tattoos.

Campbellsville University will host Jeffery Scott Jennings, Colmon Elridge III and Trey Grayson at the first Kentucky Heartland Institute on Public Policy event of the fall semester Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 5 p.m. in the Badgett Academic Support Center banquet hall on campus.

The event is free and open to the public and featured speakers will discuss the 2012 presidential election.

Campbellsville University will serve as Taylor County's Operation Christmas Child drop-off location this year. An Operation Christmas Child kickoff and informational meeting for Adair and Taylor counties will be Saturday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. EST at Columbia Baptist Church.

Taylor Regional Hospital will host an open house for its new Taylor Regional Surgical Center on Sunday, Sept. 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. at 1700 Old Lebanon Road in Campbellsville.

The three-story 48,000-square-foot facility features five operating rooms, a cystoscopy suite and two endoscopy procedure rooms.

There are 21 private pre-op/post-op patient rooms where family will be able to wait for their loved one in privacy and comfort.
