  • CU to host Jill Frost

    Campbellsville University's Public Relations Student Society of America will host Jill Gorin Frost, founder of Frost Public Relations, on Monday, Nov. 14, at 4 p.m. in the atrium of the Badgett Academic Support Center.

    Frost is a native of Green County, and is the daughter of Walt and Ann Gorin, publishers of the Greensburg Record-Herald, where she also serves as senior feature writer.

  • Club searching for Santa's Helper

    The Kiwanis Club is seeking the person who most embodies the Christmas spirit every day, all year long. And the club will name the person this year's Santa's Helper Award winner.

    Nominate the person in a letter explaining why he or she is deserving of this year's Santa's Helper award. The winner of the award will be decided by a Campbellsville Kiwanis Club committee.

  • CKAS series events continue Nov. 15

    The Central Kentucky Arts Series will present Octavia Sexton on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. at Campbellsville University's Russ Mobley Theater. Tickets are $10 for adults and $3 for children.

    Sexton tells "jack" tales, which have been around for about 800 years. They are about a character named Jack who has amusing adventures.

    She also tells "haint" tales, which are scary stories passed on from Sexton's ancestors. She learned these tales while growing up in the hills of Appalachia.

  • Paris interview to air on 'Dialogue on Public Issues'

     

    Dr. Floyd Paris, president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention, was recently interviewed by Campbellsville University's John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president of CU, on WLCU-TV for the "Dialogue on Public Issues" show.

    The show will air Monday, Nov. 14, at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m. on Comcast Cable Channel 10.

  • Relay for Life kick off meeting is Nov. 17

    A kickoff meeting to plan Taylor County's next Relay for Life events has been scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 17, at Campbellsville University's Technology Training Center, Room 106, at 6 p.m.

    Those who attend will receive team captain packets, a schedule of upcoming events and learn about the new aspects of Relay for Life participation. Registration will also be offered for free.

  • CU to host Thanksgiving chapel service

    Ginny Flanagan, special assistant to the president at Campbellsville University, will be the guest speaker at the annual CU Thanksgiving chapel service on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 10 a.m. at Ransdell Chapel.

    The public is invited to join CU students, faculty, staff and coaches for the event, which is made possible by a grant from the Reuben and Jewel Robertson Worship Endowment Program.

  • CU hosting art exhibit

    Campbellsville University is hosting an art exhibit by Page Sharp Candler, including a mix of sculptures, "boxes," dragons, gargoyles and more, through Nov. 18 at the Campbellsville University Art Gallery.

    Candler's art is shown at galleries nationwide, including Gallery 55 in New York City, Bellevue Arts Museum Shop in Bellevue, Wash., Compliments Gallery in Kennebunkport, Maine, and Art@830 in Key West, Fla.

  • Boy Scouts hosting food drive

    Boy Scouts in Campbellsville and Greensburg are hosting an annual food drive to benefit the food pantries in each county.

    Pack 777, Troop 616 and Troop 145 from Campbellsville are participating, along with Troop 3 in Greensburg.

    Flyers about the drive will be distributed on Saturday, Nov. 12. Food will be picked up on Saturday, Nov. 19. All food should be placed outside by 9 a.m. for pick up.

    Those who would like to donate but live outside the flyer distribution area can donate at the collection boxes at the local grocery stores.

  • Grain meeting is Nov. 15

    Taylor County Extension Office will host a Center of Kentucky grain educational meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 6:30 p.m.

    Guest speakers will be Dr. Chad Lee, University of Kentucky grain crops specialist, and Dr. J.D. Green, University of Kentucky weed science specialist.

    Topics to be discussed to help prepare for next year's crops include early bird decisions, corn and soybean update and weed control strategies.

  • Retired teachers to meet Nov. 15

    Taylor County Retired Teachers will meet Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 11:30 a.m. at the Taylor County Extension Office.

    A light lunch will be served and donations will be accepted, or those who attend may bring their own lunch. Served will be a Domino's baked sandwich, vegetable tray, chips and cookies.

    Taylor Regional Hospital CEO Jane Wheatley will give an update on TRH. Humana representative Tanya Broell will attend and issue free pedometers.
