  • Nashville songwriter to speak at CU

    Buzz Cason, well-known Nashville author, songwriter, publisher and creative writer's group director, will be visiting Campbellsville University on Wednesday, March 19, presenting two seminars.

    Cason is among the founding members of The Casuals, Nashville's first rock and roll band.

    Both sessions are free and open to the public.

  • CU organ recital is March 13

    Dr. Wesley Roberts, professor of music at Campbellsville University, will give a faculty organ recital Thursday, March 13 at 8 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel on the Campbellsville University campus.

    Roberts will perform major works by J.S. Bach, Kees Weggelaar, Olivier Messiaen and Cesar Franck.

    The public is invited to the free recital.

  • Benefit planned for Young family

    A benefit singing for Matt and Michelle Young is planned for Saturday, March 15 in Greensburg.

    The event, which begins at 7 p.m. ET at Greensburg Church of the Nazarene, will feature performances by The Glory Road Singers, Sarah Henry, Rusty Milby, The Preacher and the Boys, Sammy Lobb and Mile Lobb, Cheryl Blakeman and FirePath.

    The Youngs are adopting a child from Ethiopia and money collected during a love offering will help cover some expenses associated with the adoption.

    A potluck meal will follow the service.

  • CU to host first St. Baldrick's event

    Bald is beautiful. Beautiful might be debatable, but there is beauty when baldness can assist in finding a cure for children's cancer.

    Campbellsville University is teaming with the St. Baldrick's Foundation to host the first St. Baldrick event, scheduled for Saturday, March 15 at the university from noon to 2 p.m. in the Powell Athletic Center.

  • CU and TCHS bands perform March 11

    The Campbellsville University Concert Band will present a joint concert with the Taylor County High School Concert Band on Tuesday, March 11 at 8 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel on the university campus.

    Dr. David McCullough, director of bands, will conduct the university band, and Stephen Bishop, director, and Christina Bishop, assistant director, will conduct the TCHS Band.

  • History of farm food to be discussed at LWC

    The history of Kentucky farm food in the mid-20th Century will be the topic of an upcoming talk at Lindsey Wilson College.

    Anthropologist John van Willigen will discuss "Food and Everyday Life: Kentucky Farm Life 1920-1950" at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 11. His talk, which is free and open to the public, will be in the college's W.W. Slider Humanities Center Recital Hall. The talk is part of the 2007-2008 Lindsey Wilson Cultural Affairs Series.

  • Drive through cookie booths available March 8

    Several drive-through Girl Scout cookie booths will be set up on Saturday, March 8 at various local banks.

    The booths will be set up at Citizens Bank and Trust Co.'s KY 210 and Broadway branches, Taylor County Bank's main branch and Forcht Bank's KY 210 branch.

    Troops will be set up in the drive through of each bank so customers can drive in and purchase cookies without having to get out of their cars.

  • "We Card" training is March 18

    "We Card" tobacco vendor education training has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 18 at the Taylor County Health Department.

    The "We Card" program is a vendor education program to teach the importance of asking for identification by the vendor who sells tobacco products.

    The training event is for retailers and their employees to learn about the state's minimum age laws and provides tools and materials to help them comply.

  • 'The Taming of the Shrew'

    Campbellsville University's Department of Theater invites the public to see the play "The Taming of the Shrew" by William Shakespeare on March 7 and 8 at 7 p.m. and March 9 at 2 p.m. in the University Theater. "The Taming of the Shrew" is a story of secret identities, sarcasm and romance involving two sisters, Bianca and Kate, and many men who want to marry Bianca. But there is one thing stopping them - her sister Kate must marry first, and Kate is mean to everyone and despised by all - a true shrew!

  • CU orchestra concert is March 9

    The Campbellsville University orchestra will present the second annual "Concerto Concert" on Sunday, March 9 at 3 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel.

    The program will include two solo presentations by graduate students and two selections by the full orchestra.
