  • Go Tell Crusade planned for fall

    The South Central Kentucky Go Tell Crusade ministry, an inter-denominational local group, is organizing events that will bring Rick Gage back to Campbellsville/Taylor County for a Sept. 14-17 crusade.

    The group came together for a planning lunch in the Campbellsville University Banquet Hall to hear Gage on Feb. 27.

    Evening services during the Crusade will begin on Sunday, Sept. 14 at the Campbellsville High School football stadium and continue nightly through Wednesday, Sept. 17.

  • CU jazz band to perform Thursday

    Campbellsville University's Jazz Ensemble will present a concert Thursday in The Gheens Recital Hall of the Gosser Fine Arts Center.

    Jen Tinnell, director of the jazz ensemble, said, "The Campbellsville University Jazz Ensemble will present an exciting program featuring a variety of jazz styles sure to please every music enthusiast."

    She said, "Whether you enjoy swing, boogie woogie, bebop or cool jazz, you are sure to hear some great music and have a toe-tapping good time."

  • Lindsey Wilson College Singers to perform April 9

    The Lindsey Wilson College Singers will perform their annual spring home concert on Wednesday, April 9.

    The concert will be at 8 p.m. ET at Columbia Baptist Church. The concert is free and open to the public and part of the Lindsey Wilson College Cultural Affairs Series.

    The Lindsey Wilson Singers' spring home concert is traditionally performed as the ensemble's final performance of its spring tour. This year's spring tour started in Albany, Ky., on April 2 at First Albany Baptist Church, the home of Lindsey Wilson Singer senior Brett Conner.

  • CU event to raise homelessness awareness

    Do you know how it feels to be homeless? You'll get the chance April 18-19 on Campbellsville University's campus.

    Campbellsville University's Carver School of Social Work will present "Cardboard Nation: A Homeless Experience" beginning Friday, April 18 at 7 p.m. and continuing through 7 a.m. Saturday, April 19 on CU's Stapp Lawn.

    "Cardboard Nation's" purpose is to expose the public to the truth about homeless living with all proceeds from the event going to the Green River Ministries Homeless Shelter and Food Pantry.

  • Heart of Kentucky Farm, Home & Garden Show is this weekend

    Celebrating its 21st anniversary, the Heart of Kentucky Farm, Home & Garden Show in downtown Lebanon is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

    The show will feature more than 80 exhibitors representing landscaping and nurseries, agriculture, livestock and farm equipment, cedar furniture, yard furniture, outdoor storage buildings, herb products, bird houses, handmade painted stained glass, a variety of arts and crafts, free trees, inside and outside home use products and Kentucky Proud products.

  • Gallery to host Kentucky artwork

    Kaviar Forge & Gallery in Louisville is hosting its second exhibition of artwork created by people who live or work in Kentucky.

    Organizers say they are interested in all media and want to hear from all artists, not just professionals. The last exhibit was limited to just the Cifton and Cresenthill neighborhoods, this time the exhibit is open to the entire state.

  • Clean Taylor County ends Friday

    This year's Clean Taylor County event ends Friday.

    Unwanted items will be collected at the paved rear parking lot off West Main Street at the former Fruit of the Loom building. Signs will be posted.

    Items will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

    The service is free to Taylor County residents and is sponsored by Taylor Fiscal Court. Those who participate must show a valid driver's license before they can dispose of their items.

    Items must be separated and easily accessed for unloading. No enclosed trucks or trailers will be allowed.

  • CU to host senior art exhibit

    Campbellsville University's next art exhibit will feature work by senior Alyssa Champagne of North Smithfield, R.I.

    The exhibit, titled "Florence, Form and Figure," will begin today in the Art Gallery.

    Champagne is an art major at CU with a minor in English. She graduated from North Smithfield Junior-Senior High School in 2004.

    "As a New England transplant, I am foremost an observer - a lover of the outdoors and the fresh perspective of travel - while each artistic medium stands as a means to express this beauty that inspires me," Champagne said.

  • WKU Steelband to perform at LWC

    The popular Western Kentucky University Steelband will return to Lindsey Wilson College for a concert Tuesday, April 1.

    The WKU Steelband, nicknamed "Red Hot Steel," will perform at 8 p.m. ET in W.W. Slider Humanities Center Recital Hall. The concert - which is part of the Lindsey Wilson Cultural Affairs Series - is free and open to the public.

    "This is a high-energy group that will lift your spirit," said LWC library director Phil Hanna, who also chairs the cultural affairs series. "The last time they performed on campus was extremely popular."
