  • CU to host annual Christmas Tapestry on Dec. 2

    The Campbellsville University annual School of Music Christmas Tapestry concert will be Friday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel.

    Organizers of the event, Dr. David Hedrick, assistant professor of music, and Dr. Reese Land, associate professor of music/trumpet, have several groups and ensembles participating in the program.

  • New Opportunity School for Women accepting applications

    For 24 years, nearly 600 women across Appalachia have been learning they have the strength and courage to finish their education and to build the self-esteem they need to find their potential.

    At no cost to them, women who find themselves in transition and are seeking to be inspired and build their confidence are doing just that through the New Opportunity School for Women in Berea.

  • LWC to perform Christmas Madrigal Dinner

    The Lindsey Wilson College Christmas Madrigal Dinner will take guests back to the days, centuries ago, before computer games, shopping sprees and other distractions, when Christmas in the courts of Renaissance kings and queens was a time of lavish costumes, joyous music and memorable food.

    The dinner is at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Nov. 29, and Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the LWC Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center. The cost is $20 per person or $35 per couple.

  • Paul interview to air on 'Dialogue on Public Issues'

     

    U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, was recently interviewed by Campbellsville University's John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president of CU, on WLCU TV for the "Dialogue on Public Issues" show.

    The show will air Monday, Nov. 28, at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 6:30 p.m. The show is aired on Comcast Cable Channel 10. For more information, call 789-5000.

  • Photos with Santa to benefit preservation commission

    Campbellsville Renaissance/Historic Preservation Commission will offer an opportunity for children and pets to be photographed with Santa in downtown Campbellsville.

    The photos will be available before the Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Natasha Perkins Photography, located at 106 S. Court Street.

    No appointments are necessary. A portion of the sitting fee will support the commission's activities in downtown Campbellsville.

  • CU Concert Chorus to present 'Gloria'

    The Campbellsville University School of Music will present a performance of Vivaldi's "Gloria" by the Concert Chorus on Monday, Nov. 28, at 8 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel.

    Dr. David Hedrick, assistant professor of music at Campbellsville University, directs the chorus, but this performance will be under the direction of special guest conductor Dr. Robert Gaddis, dean of the School of Music and conductor of the University Orchestra.

    Campbellsville University will host Sam C. Watene, a CU graduate who serves as executive director of The Lord's Kitchen in Louisville, on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m. in Ransdell Chapel.

    Chapel is free and open to the public.

  • Lovely in Danger

     

    Dickens Christmas and the Heart of Kentucky Holiday Festival will have a new addition to their festivities this year.

    "Lovely in Danger," a new old-fashioned melodrama, will be performed during the weekend of both celebrations. The first performances will be at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, and Friday, Dec. 2, at Angelic Hall in Lebanon.

  • Blood drive planned for Nov. 25

    Thanksgiving traditionally marks the beginning of the holiday season. The American Red Cross often sees blood donations decrease during this time of year, while the need for blood remains constant.

    To help ensure that there is a stable blood supply during the holiday season, the Red Cross depends on generous volunteer donors to give blood.

    A blood drive in Taylor County has been planned for Friday, Nov. 25, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Kroger on Campbellsville Bypass.

  • Bethel Church to host Thanksgiving dinner

    For many years now, Bethel First Presbyterian Church has hosted a free Thanksgiving dinner for the community.

    The traditional meal will be served on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, in the church's fellowship hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    Bethel First Presbyterian Church is located at 502 E. Main St. All those in the community are welcome to the dinner.

    Those who need transportation should call the church office at 465-7091. Meals can also be delivered to shut-ins.
