  • Doctor to discuss weight loss program

    Dr. Bill Hopkins, an author from Bowling Green, will speak at Taylor Regional Hospital's meeting room on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 4 p.m. to discuss his weight loss program.

    Hopkins is the author of "Z: The Ultimate Resolution Starts Now," which is available in paperback and e-book versions at www.myzweight.com.

    Hopkins will discuss how his plan came to fruition and how he lost 52 pounds in eight weeks.

    Hopkins's presentation is free and books will be available for purchase.

  • TCHS band cookbooks still available

    Taylor County High School Band still has cookbooks for sale.

    Band Boosters have collected the best recipes from band boosters, family and friends and compiled them into a keepsake cookbook. The one-of-a-kind cookbooks are available for $12.

  • Workshop for church musicians is Feb. 4

    A workshop for church musicians, entitled "Service Playing: The Role of the Pianist in 21st Century Worship," will be Saturday, Feb. 4, at Greensburg Baptist Church.

    Explaining the role of the church pianist, Campbellsville University Assistant Professor of Piano Dr. William Budai will conduct the workshop, which is open to Christians of any denomination.

    The workshop will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET in the church sanctuary. The event is free.

  • Relay for Life kickoff meeting is Jan. 19

    A meeting to kick off planning for Taylor County's Relay for Life events will be Thursday, Jan. 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Campbellsville University's Technology Training Center.

    The meeting is for anyone participating in Relay for Life who has already signed up a team or is interested in forming a team.

    Monthly Relay for Life meetings will be the third Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m.

  • Turner interview to air on 'Dialogue on Public Issues'

     

    Lonnie Turner, a long-term Baptist missionary working in Zambia and living in South Africa with his wife, Fran, was recently interviewed for Campbellsville University's "Dialogue on Public Issues" show.

    Campbellsville University's John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president of CU, did the interview.

  • Owens interview to air on 'Dialogue on Public Issues'

     

    Dr. Joe Owens, senior pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in Lexington, who was Campbellsville University's speaker for its Dialogue on Race series, was recently interviewed on CU's show "Dialogue on Public Issues."

    Campbellsville University's John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president of CU, interviewed Owens.

    Owens is vice chair of the CU Board of Trustees.

    The interview will air Monday, Jan. 16, at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 6:30 p.m.

  • Lions Club to host corn hole tournament

    The Campbellsville Lions Club will host a corn hole tournament at the Hansford Auction building on Saturday, Jan. 14.

    Registration and a meal will begin at 11 a.m. and the tournament will start at noon. Entry fee is $30 per two-person team.

    Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners, based on a 60-percent payout to be determined by the number of players. Bonus sponsor prizes will be given to winning teams. There will be door prizes and concessions.

    All proceeds will go to the Campbellsville Lions Club for community services projects.

  • Library to offer free computer classes

    Taylor County Public Library will host several free computer classes, beginning today.

    Classes offered include:

    ♦ Thursday, Jan. 26 - Intermediate computers from 2 to 4 p.m.

    ♦ Thursday, Feb. 9 - Intermediate computers from 2 to 4 p.m.

    ♦ Wednesday, Feb. 22 - Job searching from 2 to 4 p.m.

  • LWC offers discounted courses

    Area high school students can get an early start on college by enrolling in select classes this spring at Lindsey Wilson College. And area senior citizens can take select courses at the college for free.

    LWC's 2012 spring semester begins on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

    Qualified high school seniors can select up to two classes from six being offered from Lindsey Wilson. Qualified high school students can also take online courses from Lindsey Wilson.
