  • Resident starts Phones for Famine drive

    What if ending hunger was as easy as donating an old phone? Well, it is.

    Phones for Famine was established last year with a simple goal: to make it easy for everyday people to help those in need. Phones for Famine is a grassroots movement started by Campbellsville resident Mike Ostrander in response to recent famines in locations like Somalia and Kenya.

    Residents can celebrate American Heart Month by attending some free wellness events hosted by Taylor Regional Hospital.

  • Abramson interview to air on 'Dialogue on Public Issues'

     

    Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson was recently interviewed on Campbellsville University's "Dialogue on Public Issues" show on WLCU. John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president of CU, did the interview.

    The show will air Monday, Jan. 30, at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 6:30 p.m. on Comcast Cable Channel 10. For more information, call 789-5000.

  • Free clothing store opens Feb. 3

    Blessings at the Well, a free clothing store for those in need, will open on Friday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m. ET.

    The store is located at 5147 Campbellsville Road, near the Adair County line. Clothing will be available for men, women and children.

    Donations of clean clothing are being accepted.

    The store will be open on Fridays from noon to 4 p.m. and on the first and second Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. to noon.

  • Library to host Lego contest

    Taylor County Public Library will host a Lego contest for those ages 4 to 17.

    First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded in each of the three age groups, which are ages 4 to 7, ages 8 to 12 and ages 13 1o 17.

    Creations will be judged on creativity, originality and complexity. Creations will not be judged on the number of Legos used.

    Completed projects are to be brought to the library during the week of Feb. 20 through Feb. 25.

    Judging will be Monday, Feb. 27, and the winners will be announced Tuesday, Feb. 28.

  • CU to host guest saxophone recital

    Campbellsville University's School of Music will host Korean saxophonist Seungdong Lee for a master class and recital on Feb. 1 and 2, both of which are open to the public.

    Lee performs in the KBS Symphony Orchestra and Sung NamPhilharmonic Orchestra, and he is the principal saxophonist of the Korea Saxophone Ensemble.

  • Library creates Teen Book Club

    Taylor County Public Library has created a Teen Book Club and it will have its first meeting Thursday, Feb. 2.

    The group is for teenagers ages 12 to 17 and will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the library's basement. Pizza will be served.

    Those who would like to attend are asked to bring ideas to share about which books the club should read.

  • CU to host legacy series art exhibit

    Campbellsville University will host a legacy series art exhibit show from Jan. 30 to Feb 17.

    The exhibit is part of a legacy series with a show by a teacher and former students, and consists of ceramics by Tonya Johnson and former students Amy Rench, Richard Rheinberg, Jamie Herman and Ted Herman.

    The exhibit is free and open to the public.

  • CU to host campus revival Jan. 30-Feb. 2

    The Rev. Brent Gambrell, president of Brent Gambrell Ministries of Nashville, Tenn., will be at Campbellsville University on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m., speaking to students, faculty and staff at CU's chapel service in Ransdell Chapel. This event will be free and open to the public.

    Gambrell will also speak at the annual spring revival on Monday, Jan. 30, through Thursday, Feb. 2, at 8 p.m. in Ransdell Chapel.

  • CU to host student rally

    The public is invited to a Jay Lowder Harvest Ministries Student Rally on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. at Campbellsville University's Powell Athletic Center.

    Those interested can also hear Lowder speak at a chapel service that morning at 10. Chapel is in Ransdell Chapel.
