    Adult learning center to host GED classes

    Taylor County Adult Learning Center instructors will be at Good Hope Family Life Center on Thursday evenings, beginning May 9, from 6 to 8:00 p.m. to help people prepare for the GED test.

  • CU to have largest graduation ceremony ever

    Campbellsville University will have graduation ceremonies for its largest class of students on Friday and Saturday.

    Including the December graduates, the 2012-2013 class totals a record 647 students.

    Graduate students will receive their diplomas at 7 p.m. Friday in Ransdell Chapel with 170 students receiving degrees.

  • 'Taking Back' Drugs

     

    Campbellsville/Taylor County Anti-Drug Coalition partnered with local law enforcement and others to give residents an opportunity to dispose of unwanted and expired medications.

    According to Karen Hayes, coalition co-chair, 1,400 medications weighing 226 pounds were collected.

    Those who were unable to attend Saturday's drop off can bring unwanted medication, with the exception of injectibles and syringes, to a collection box in Campbellsville Police Department lobby.

  • Miles of bargains

     

    Shoppers searched for bargains last week at the annual KY 55 yard sale.

    The sale extended through several counties and vendors set up in Taylor County last Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

  • 'Get Fit Taylor County Week' is May 6-11

     

    Campbellsville Trail Town Task Force recently initiated "Get Fit Taylor County Week," which will be celebrated May 6-11.

    The week is funded by McDonald’s Corp. to gear up for an August Connextions event at Green River Lake State Park.

    The Task Force is dedicated to raise awareness about the benefits of exercise and the abundance of recreation opportunities in Taylor County through these events.

  • Author to speak at public library

     

    Author and Campbellsville native Janna McMahan will help celebrate the opening of the Taylor County Public Library, a library that she says was pivotal in her life.

    As an 11-year-old with a great desire to read, McMahan begged her parents to allow her to volunteer when Campbellsville opened its first community library.

    Decades later, McMahan will return to her hometown to help celebrate the opening of the new Taylor County Public Library.

  • President of Southern Baptist Convention to speak at CU

    Fred Luter Jr., president of the Southern Baptist Convention, will speak at Campbellsville University's chapel service on Wednesday, April 10. The service will be at Ransdell Chapel and is free and open to the public.
