Wigginton's 35 points propel TC past Washington

-A A +A

Cards visit LaRue on Friday, North on Saturday and Nelson on Tuesday.

By Bobby Brockman

Sophomore Caleb Wigginton scored only five points in the first quarter but followed it up with a 12-point second frame and a 10-point third period en route to a 35-point night in Taylor County’s 72-54 road triumph at Washington County on Tuesday.
The Cardinals fought back several times to maintain their double-digit advantage, sparked by Commander junior Alex Marshall’s 21-point showing.
Wigginton also grabbed seven rebounds, third on the team to Lucas Bradshaw and Austin Webster, who each had eight boards. Bradshaw also had six field goals for 12 points and it was the first varsity start for the freshman Webster.
Eighth-grade point guard Quentin Goodin had eight points, eight assists and four steals for TCHS while senior Trae Wells dished out seven assists to go along with his seven points.
Taylor County (14-9) visits LaRue County on Friday and makes up a game with North Hardin on Saturday.
The Cardinals end regular-season action with a Tuesday game at Nelson County and a Feb. 17 home tilt vs. John Hardin.
