What are you thankful for?

-A A +A

Annual contest gives readers a chance to give thanks

By Becky Cassell, Editor

What are you most thankful for? Has a special someone done something extraordinary on your behalf? Is there someone who has made a tremendous impact in your life?

If so, write to us.

The Central Kentucky News-Journal is sponsoring an essay contest in which readers are asked to reflect on some of these questions.

The winning essays will be published in the News-Journal on Thanksgiving Day.

The theme of the contest asks readers to think about how they have been blessed and what they're most thankful for in their lives.

A winner will be selected from three different age categories.

There will be a children's winner for those 12 and younger, a teen winner for ages 13 to 19 and an adult winner for ages 20 and older. There are rules that the writers must follow to enter the contest.

All winners will receive a one-year subscription to the Central Kentucky News-Journal. Each winner will also receive gifts from area merchants.

The deadline to enter is Friday, Nov. 14.

- Entries should be no more than 350 words.

- The writer must include his or her name, age, address, daytime telephone number and school.

- All entries must arrive at the News-Journal office by 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14. Entries may be e-mailed to editor@cknj.com or brought by the office at 428 Woodlawn Ave.

For more information about the contest, contact Editor Rebecca Cassell at 465-8111 Ext. 227 or editor@cknj.com.
