Campbellsville Mayor Tony Young's request for residents to conserve water has been lifted.
Young issued the request last Thursday after Campbellsville Water & Sewer officials said water was being used at a high rate because of numerous fires and many broken water lines caused by recent sub-zero temperatures.
According to a news release issued Saturday afternoon, water system levels are approaching the normal range.
The release states that water personnel and those from other city departments have worked numerous hours to restore water levels. Their combined efforts have allowed the water company's system to recover.
Since winter weather came through Campbellsville about a week ago, crews have been searching for leaks and are monitoring water levels. Numerous leaks have been found.
Water and sewer personnel ask that residents check their property for water leaks and report them to the water company at 789-3133.
