U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., was in Campbellsville on Wednesday to talk with local ministers. Paul said he speaks to many people as part of business roundtables, as well as religious roundtables during his visits with residents, and he feels both are important.
“I personally think there is an intersection between religion and politics, and it’s a good thing to have religious people involved with politics,” Paul said.
“I do think it’s an important part of who we are as a people. (George) Washington said that a democracy would not survive and thrive unless it were supported by a virtuous people, and I do believe that.”
