The United States birth rate has fallen to a historic low, according to the results of a study recently released by the Centers for Disease Control.
Dr. Brady Hamilton of the Atlanta, Ga. CDC office led the study, which found that the birth rate dropped to 12.7 per 1,000 people in 2011, a 0.3 percent decrease from 2010.
Hamilton said there are many factors contributing to the decline.
“The economy has declined, and that certainly is a factor,” Hamilton said.
