Two newcomers want State Representative's seat

-A A +A

Incumbent steps down for health reasons.

By James Roberts

Voters will decide between two men with plenty of local ties when choosing the next 51 District State Representative next month.

Republican John "Bam" Carney of Taylor County and Democrat Billy Joe Fudge of Adair County are seeking the seat that incumbent Russ Mobley, R-Campbellsville, will vacate when his term ends this year.

Mobley is not seeking re-election. In a press release issued earlier this year, Mobley cited health issues as his reason for stepping down after eight years in office.
